It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Delightful and funny! There's nothing very original in this comedy but that's what it makes it so pleasant to watch. It's a zombie movie with children and people who are not afraid of them... Teacher deserves indeed all of our respect! It's really great written and directed. There's some length that a great editing makes forget. If you want to have fun, you're in the right place with this movie.

To start with, the movie has great laughs and great gore. I loved all the cheeky bits with the children playing with remains. In fact, if there was one thing I didn't like about this movie, it's the opening credits. Without going too far into detail, we're shown chickens being processed and made into chicken nuggets. And those who know what happens during processing would know how disturbing that is (especially if you're an animal lover like me). I mean, couldn't they just show the already-processed chicken being made into chicken nuggets? As long as you see the one black nugget, then it would probably work fine too. To be honest, the opening credits really took me out of the mood of even seeing the movie (and if I'm being completely honest, the only reason I wanted to watch it was because of Leigh Whannell being in it *he was hilarious*). The opening credits are something a malicious vegan would show to someone if they wanted to make them vegan. It freaked me out so much that I can't go to sleep without my TV on. Anyway, overall, the movie was a good mix of funny and gory, but be sure you can handle seeing chickens being processed.

In an era when the zombie trope is close to becoming overplayed and hackneyed this film does nothing to save the genre. Once considered horror films zombie movies have transitioned to comedy, perhaps originally in the recent era thanks to Pegg and Frost's brilliant 'Sean of the Dead.' However Cooties fails as both a horror movie and as a horror comedy.Elijah Wood looks very much like Frodo Baggins after a haircut and the rest of the cast are nobodies who don't lend much to an already thin plot line. Credit does go to Leigh Whannel for playing the socially awkward 'brains of the bunch' well although this is not enough to save the film. The alleged hook of this film is that the zombies are all children, those having survived puberty not being vulnerable to the virus. Anyone would think that a horde of zombie kids running amok in a school would be enough for gore filled laughs whilst conforming to the standard pattern of zombie movies the world over. However the laughs are few and far between. The film also tries to be scary and is filled with many of the clichés of any horror flick since the invention of film. Yet these elements of the movie are forced at best and a long way from striking terror into the hearts of the viewer. That none of the main characters come close to dying also removes any remaining facade of credibility to this turkey of a film.I do not recommend this film at all. 3/10

The absurdity of Cooties starts right in the opening credits so there is instant understanding the story-line is going to be a bit ridiculous. Right from the start, Elijah Wood's self-deprecating character turns out to be a strong comedic lead and the surrounding cast of Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill and Leigh Whannell put together an eclectic mix of strange characters. One-liners throughout the film have more hit then miss moments, but sometimes the comedy halts the intensity of the zombie action. The idea of having zombie children as the villainous subject with adult teachers having to survive and kill some of them off is a ballsy concept that I applaud the writers for taking. Cooties is a fun movie with absolutely no serious backbone to it at all, so in terms of entertainment value it's quite high, but in no way leaves a lasting impression in the slightest.
