The Marine 2 (2009)

That was an excellent one.

Excellent but underrated film

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

Indulge yourself to an afternoon matinee on the tv while watching this somewhat action style film. Similar storyline to many a movie out there, couple on vacation one is a Marine (Dibiase), the other his wife as a advisor to hotel. They get there and all hell breaks loose with rebel forces taking over and taking hostages. Cue the Marine wanting to go in and get his wife and rescue the hostages. For a WWE movie it isn't terrible but the editing leaves little to be desired for. The characters are really flawed by no development to most of them. Michael Rooker with a small but complex role was well received. I would chalk this up to ok in action as the choreographed fight scenes were less than stellar. 4 out of 10

Remember WWF wrestling in the early nineties? Well the guy playing the lead role in this is the son of the "Million Dollar Man". Remember him? He had a guy called Virgil at ringside with him. Yeah, you know who I'm on about.In this film, Dibiase's son (also called Ted) plays a "Marine" who has to save a bunch of hostages taken captive by a madman. You can guess what happens in this end.If this was made in 1985, you could really see Chuck Norris doing it. Seems like the kind of film "Cannon Films" used to release in their pomp.

The first one was a bit mental. It was funny and had an over the top villain in Robert Patrick.Now we have another die hard in a hotel.Good old Ted is not a star, and not an action star at all. In fact he is the worse thing in this movie. He hardly has any lines in the movie, which is good, and the fight scenes are a little lethargic.Thank good then for Rooker and Morrison, who save the whole thing and make it just that little bit watchable for the audience at home.The plot is silly, and as you would expect from a 'Die Hard on/in a.....' movie, we get the damsel in distress, the wisecracking sort of partner, and the army who don't like one man taking over.There are some awful pyrotechnics, and you know when they are going to happen, because Ted jumps in the air in slow motion.There is a fight at the end, involving explosions and a jump off a boat, but nothing else.It's run of the mill stuff, not unwatchable, but don't expect to see Ted in a film anytime soon

this movie was actually worse than the first one. i gave the first one 1 star this movie deserves no stars. this is a waist of money. Ted dibiase was horrible in this. his acting was horrible and another question to the wwe. why put a wrestler thats not even close to star power in a movie like this. the plot was just boring. Ted dibiase mostly stayed in a safe camp site while his wife was held hostage. yeah he really cares about his wife. and when he did go try and save her the movie was over in 15, 20 minutes. at first i was surprised a sequel to a financially successful film was released direct to DVD. now i see why.i had high expectations for this film then i find out it is a piece of crap. don't see this movie.
