I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Hotel for Dogs is a good, cute film that kids and dog-lovers will certainly enjoy. I'm a big dog-lover, so I actually liked the film. This film reminds me of a Disney Channel movie but this is like one of the good ones. I know that the story has been done before, but it's still quite charming and better than expected.Thor Freudenthal's film is about a sister and a brother who are moved from foster home to foster home and they have come to care for a dog during that span. But when it's known that the dog met other homeless dogs, the siblings and some pet store employees do what they can to run an unofficial hotel for dogs. The acting is pretty good. Emma Roberts is starting to prove that she's a good actress. It's evident with this film that she has some talent. Jake T. Austin does a solid job too. And for the adult actors, well they were good. Don Cheadle reminded me of his role in Hotel Rwanda and Lisa Kudrow and Matt Dillon played the wannabe rock stars quite well.Overall, this is a good film that children will enjoy. Adults may like this inoffensive fare if they like dogs, such as myself. This is a good film for the families. I rate this film 8/10.

Harmless but forgettable fluff designed to make every child feel as though they are worth something. Roberts plays a young girl thrown from foster home to foster home with her brother. Needless to say, they soon meet a load of dogs that also can't find a family. Soon they're running a Hotel for Dogs to escape the misery of their lives. All this would be easier to swallow if Roberts and Austin were relatable. They commit crimes to make money. Who cares if their parents are dead, there are plenty of law abiding orphans out there. Cheadle is a surprise turn out in this paint by numbers fluff. It can be entertaining, but the dog handlers deserve the biggest congratulations.

This was a simple story. Two foster kids team up with some friends to save stray dogs from the pound by putting them in an abandoned hotel. They rig the hotel with all these devices, like a way to feed the dogs at one time, entertainment for the dogs, a moon to howl at, etc... One of the kids works at a pet store which is how the kids are able to afford to buy all this dog food. So, of course, conflict ensues when the foster parents find the dog hotel and call the pound. Then it is up to the kids to save the dogs again.Nothing original about this movie. The dogs were the best part for me. 10 year old kids will probably like the story.FINAL VERDICT: I'd only recommend it for kids.

Emma Roberts, Don Cheadle, Kevin Dillon, Lisa Kudrow and Don Cheadle all star in one stupid film. 2009 has had some fantastic children's entertainment. We had Up and Where the wild things are, both made my top three for the year. We also had Night at the museum 2, which wasn't art but was still decent. But before all of these good films, we had Hotel for dogs. Trust me, don't check into it. You can see what the hell is going to happen in this film once all of the characters are introduced. The plot is simple stuff. A brother and sister(Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin), who are living with their stupid foster parents(Kevin Dillon and Lisa Kudrow) decide to open up a hotel for a bunch of stray dogs. Them and their friends help also. While watching the film, you can definitely see where the hell it is going. You know that eventually the hotel for dogs will become a big thing. They will try to keep it a secret from the adults. They will get new foster parents. A lot of this film is unfeasible also. How would they get the money to make all of this crap? Where would they get the money for the dog food? They are kids. All I can really say about this movie that is good... well, not that much. Not even the dogs could save it. Well, perhaps they do a little bit. The dogs in the film are very cute. But besides that, the film is kind of like dog crap. It's not a total mess, but it's one of the worst films of the year. Predictable, cheesy, and a ton of other things, please be sure to stay away from this film.Hotel for dogs:*1/2 out of ****
