I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

Frustrated by erratic and uncontrollable behavior at the hands of his troublesome alter ego, Professor Sherman Klump undergoes an experiment that separates his personality and allows the suave Buddy Love to become his own person. This time around they're battling each other for possession of invaluable scientific research which only further complicates matters in Sherman's personal life with colleague Jackson. Murphy, who's clearly having fun in his pull-out-all-the-stops portrayal of a horny grandmother, is as likable and energetic as he's ever been, but the script is awfully slim and throws out only a few genuinely funny ideas. A disappointment considering the impact of its predecessor. **

Terrible excuse for a movie. The first Nutty proffesser had some amusing moments like Fat Murphy getting insulted at a club by stand up comedian Dave Chappell with insulting wisecracks and then getting him back later as thin Murphy with some even funnier wisecracks, and the scenes with Murphy and Ms. Purty. Ms. Purty wasn't even in this movie, and there was hardly even any mention of her. Instead, we got Janet Jackson, who proved to us she just needs to stick to singing. Janet Jackson's a great singer, but acting is a different thing. But the Klumps themselves, oh no. They were sort of funny in the first movie, but even then, the excessive use of fart jokes and colon jokes is just not for me. I sort of liked the joke in the first film about the huge, excessive amounts of food on the dinner table at the Klumps' house. But this movie had absolutely no funny moments with the Klumps at all. It was All constant fart and granny sex jokes from them, excessive yelling, and No funny jokes. They were also used five times as much in this film than in the first film. Less is more. A little of them go a long way. In the first film, there were other funny parts with just Murphy, and I liked the scenes with the dean in the first film who detested fat Murphy and kept giving him a hard time. But in this film, the dean has the most horrible, embarrassingly dreadful scene with a large hamster. And the noise the dean made while the huge hamster had his way with the dean was one of the most terrible, disturbing, embarrassing, horrible HORRIBLE experiences I ever had watching any film. Ever!

I watched this with my family and my grandparents over the weekend on our trip and we could not believe how vulgar this was. For gods sake the old grandmother gave Buddy a bj. and my god was this a bad movie. The only good thing was the effects and makeup but other than that this movie was made for 12 year old kids that haven't gone through puberty. Janet Jackson is pure eye candy and i should have known the movie was going to be terrible when buddy pops of out the main characters crotch area. I recommend watching this if your incredibly stupid. and if your going to watch this movie then bring your friend along so you can talk about how bad it was afterwords.

Starts out hilarious at first with the wedding sequence at the beginning which turns out to be a dream sequence in Sherman's mind, but one can only take so much of the toilet humor and ribbing about fatness and obesity after a while. Apart from the main characters Sherman and Buddy, Eddie Murphy reprises his multiple roles as each of the family members of the Klump family with the exception of the youngest son, and proves his versatility in playing different characters. A pity that there's more emphasis on the fart gags and sexual innuendo than in the actual plot of retrieving the scientific formula and banishing the obnoxious Buddy Love from Sherman's genetic existence. Eddie Murphy is a talented comedic actor, but I hope there is not going to be another sequel to this movie. Time to move on, Eddie.
