Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

The film starts out with a funeral, followed by four of his buddies having a drink and smoking a doobie. Zach (Michael Pitt) is a portfolio manager and is engaged to Janie (Morgan Wolk). Noah (Dan Stevens) was the class geek. He was bullied and is still a bit socially awkward. Bryce (Rob Brown) has a hot stock tip. And Warren (Christopher Abbott) rounds out the foursome. It starts out innocent enough as Noah was able to come up with the money for our foursome to invest in Bidexco stock. As fate would have it the stock fails. Noah borrowed the money from the mob and Eddie (John Travolta) wants his money with interest. Clearly our guys don't have the money, so they reluctantly agree to kidnap Marques (Edi Gathegi) for Eddie so he can exchange for his kidnapped niece. The film flows in a dark, quirky and sometimes twisty manner. Then at the very end the film twists in multiple ways which frankly I didn't see coming.Travolta looked like he is using Botox and his hair looked like it was plastic. Good crime/drama/thriller with some dark humor.Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Morgan Wolk)

Anyone involved with this movie should just be ashamed of themselves. Why?The script, if there was one, was just a bunch of guys yelling f-words at each other. Worthless, f, f, f, this, and f, f, f, that.Cinematography? Shaky cam shot by a 12-year-old. Not one interesting visual. Plot? Forget it. Interest? None. Acting? Beyond lame. This is a product with a major star (Travolta) vying for your consumer dollar. The problem is, it's utter garbage. Do not waste a minute of your life on this sad rip-off.

A Low-Budget Indie by First Time Director Haley. His Film will Probably have You saying this isn't the first time for this Type of Thing. Obviously, a Homage or a Copycat, depending on Your Feeling about the Film. It's mostly Dialog Driven with Splatters of Violence for Punctuation. Sound Familiar? Some of the Scenes are irritating Shouting Matches and Hardly Witty. Others are more Clever and make for some Interesting Exchanges. An Amateur Kidnapping Scheme is at the Center of this Exercise in Neo-Noir. Haley plays a Glib and Aloof Mob Enforcer and John Travolta is in one of His Slumming Roles with Bad Makeup, but Manages to be an Anchor of Sorts for the Young Turks and Their Concern with High School Camaraderie and Current Girlfriend Fidelity. It's a Scattershot Story with some Intrigue and Interest, not a lot of it Works but some Things Do and it is Worth a Watch for B-Movie Fans, and Tarantino Rip-Off Spotters. The Ending may be more Complex than Needed, but it Feels like the Filmmakers think that the Overly Twisted Wrap Up makes this Something Special. Maybe, but Maybe too Clever for this Small Film to Pull Off.It's a Multitude of Things that were Withheld from the Audience and You will either be Saying A-Ha, or Give Me a Break. Depending if You can Fully Understand it all or Feel that it isn't Worth Understanding after all.

This movie is considerably better than the low ratings would have you believe. The plot is strong, with a few good twists along away the way. If there is one criticism, and I'm guessing this is where the low ratings come in its that the production quality could have been better. While the acting is good, some of the scenes feel a little too stifled and not tight enough. I think the director missed a trick not upping the pace. This isn't an action movie, although it would have played better with a more fluid rhythm. The relationship between the characters could have been developed more during the plot which would only have added to the brilliant plot twist at the end.My advice to anyone considering watching this, ignore the ratings and watch it. Its OK, but could have been so much better. .
