It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

The animation looks good only when it's not showing faces because most of the characters faces and even some of the movements look so wooden. The story itself dealing with the Hutts isn't that interesting, the characterisations feel awkward considering the already known arcs. The main problem is this was supposed to be 4 episodes of the series which could've worked in that context but it was made into a theatrically released film. But no one is fooled here, anyone watching this will know they are watching a tv show. The story and the humour are more of the style of cartoons that we are used to seeing in Cartoon Network than that of Star Wars. Even with all of this and some annoying characters, it provides enough entertainment to be very much bearable.

This Star Wars film really acted as a prequel to the 'Clone Wars' TV series that followed, and is more of a pilot than anything. It's an entertaining enough film though, designed to fill in the gaps in the saga, much like that new films that they're making now. Isn't it funny how history repeats.I don't think any huge 'Star Wars' fans pay it too much attention though. The voices for many of the characters aren't the same as the live action films, and rarely gets much wider acclaim. In truth you can probably forget it even exists at all. At some moments of the film it's actually quite tempting.

The main problem with this movie was that it was released in theaters, giving fans the impression that it was the next Star Wars movie. However, it's really just the pilot episode of the Clone Wars TV series, and as the pilot episode of a TV series it's solid. Go into it expecting this and I think you'll enjoy it. But if you're expecting the next Star Wars movie you'll most certainly be disappointed. The episode itself is fairly middle-of-the-road, as far as the series goes. The plot is pretty straight-forward and not particularly exciting, involving Jabba the Hutt's child being abducted and needing rescue by the Jedi to establish a strategic advantage in the war against the Separatists. The stakes just never seem particularly high, and the main goal seems to be just to introduce the characters and the basic premise of the show. There are much better episodes of the TV series, but we don't normally judge an entire series by a single episode, and although this episode isn't particularly great, the series itself is quite impressive, only getting better as the series progresses. So I do recommend watching this as the beginning of a very enjoyable TV series!
