Earl Montgomery, a bombastic police academy reject, and Hank Rafferty, a disgraced, mild-mannered cop, can't seem to escape each other. They met on opposite sides of the law during a routine traffic stop that escalated out of control; now as lowly security guards they're thrown together to bust a smuggling operation.

True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.

The character played by Martin Lawrence looks like and acts like a total moron, but also a heavily racist moron, and a dangerous moron. Surely such ta person as he, whether black or white, would NEVER make it into a police force? I found this film extremely offensive and worlhless. It plays to the basest instincts, is not at all clever, apparently strives to hit every crude cliché around, while introducing hideous behaviour that will amuse only those with mindsets stuck at age 5 and IQs well below 70. The movie is a disaster, a shameful disaster, which should never have been made. A Spanish-language "song" is played a few minutes into the film: one of the Spanish words is "pendejo". (a very oscene word for penis) I was not surprised to hear this; it just about sums up the attitude and level of the producers of the flick. I hope that they will receive a little blast of enlightenment soon, and try to produce a movie that has some decent qualities while providing entertainment without resorting to filth and overt stupid racism ~ whether from blacks to white or from whites to blacks. Please!

i personally didn't find this movie particularly funny... really its just a horrible sequence of stereotypes about how the poor black man is always the victim and at the same time how playing the victim is racist in and of itself.im not really sure what else to say about it... its a movie... it tries to be funny i guess... martin lawrence is sometimes funny, but in this movie i just found its constant crying about how black people are poorly treated and how white people are just evil slave masters constantly trying to get the black man down tiresome...So if feeling sorry about your race and putting the blame on everyone else is your kind of humor im sure you would really like this movie... personally i just find it racist all around... and people should really stop trying to single themselves out for what color they are, if you really have a problem with racism maybe you should take a good long look at yourself in the mirror, things like this really only do more harm than good...But hey thats just my 2 cents.... 2/10

Martin Lawrence was absolutely funny in this movie,, he had so many great one liners I couldn't stop laughing the entire movie,, yeah the buddy cop genre has pretty much worn out it's welcome in the last 20 years. but this one is refreshing. Steve Zahn who I never heard of was also funny at times.. the main story of the movie is that our main character arrests a man and turns out he wasn't even guilty,, together they are thrown together to go up against some bad guys , and have a lot of fun in doing so.. yes there are some aspects that are played out over and over again, but for the most part, there are some interesting thiings going on in the movie that I haven't seen that much of before,, I f you're looking for a comedy that will make you laugh all of the way thru the movie, then this is for you.

I know Martin Lawrence isn't the best actor in the world, but does he really have to play the exact same character in every movie? I mean, I liked him in "Nothing To Lose". Then I moved on. In this one he tries out the buddy cop genre once again, but the chemistry with Steve Zahn just isn't there, which makes everything seem so forced. Especially the emotional scenes are as useless as can be. Watching Lawrence act like he cares about the other guy's paper-thin back story is painful to watch. Then again, the actors probably aren't the biggest problem, given that not even Mel Gibson and Danny Glover could make this screenplay work. A lazy stock crime plot spiced up with no laughs whatsoever isn't exactly my favourite way of spending an evening. At barely an hour and a half I can say that this movie is mercifully short , but that's pretty much all I've got.
