-The CGI quality has improved slightly in motions and lip-sync. It also feels far darker, bloodier, and grittier.-The setting is more interesting as it takes place in a war zone located in a city. No more silly fluffy areas and annoying civilians running around.Voice acting is laughable, especially for Leon. I mean, come on, it's like he didn't even care to perform.-The story moves away from the style of the first three movies, which was basically a zombie epidemic in a civilized area with some secret laboratories. It moves to the later trilogy, where there are no innocents. The civilians are all hostile and in this case, armed and dangerous, plus the whole place is in the middle of a civil war.-There are technically no zombies in this film but rather possessed people. The result is pretty much the same but surely, it looks closer to tentacle monsters using human hosts.-This time it is not so much about evil multi-national organizations trying to take over the world with bioorganic weapons. It is a lot more about localized political intrigue, and messages around terrorism and wars for natural resources. I must say it made the set up to feel far more realistic and interesting.-Of course they hardly do anything smart with the whole thing. It's still gust a slugfest to the most part with the resolution being weak and almost anti-climactic. But at least it gives you the impression that the villains got away and almost won. It made it feel catchier this way.-There are Tyrants as bosses. We can't do without them. Only this time they are mass produced and felt like they were beaten easily by mooks. Lame! -Leon grows a goatee and looks even more badass now. Other than that, he acts extremely uncaring and spouts lots of lame one-liners.-No more of that bimbo Claire, thank God. Now we get Ada Wong being badass, manipulative, and even taking part in a cat fight. Now that's more like it! -Some rebels are in this movie and try to offer drama by mentioning how the stronger countries are manipulating them for resources and now that they resist decided to wipe them out. They could have made something interesting out of this but in just half an hour you stop caring about them, since the plot is basically Leon walking around and killing mutants. Very weak presence and importance.-There is a politician present again, only this time it's not a weak fat cliché asshole. This one was smart, cunning, strong, and willing to do all it takes to have it her way. Yes, she is a woman to boot.-And then we have undead… sort of. Closer to mutated bio-weapons in the form of Crimson Heads and Lickers. And apparently this time they are controlled telepathetically by a human who acts as a bee queen or something. It was an interesting twist to the mindless hordes of monsters up to now but still complete mooks to the plot.-Overall, the second film had a smaller and more interesting cast, though clearly in terms of coolness and not depth.-It is surely better than the first, less of a Romero rip-off, and more of an attempt at delving into politics and conspiracies. It still remains nothing but a one-timer, as it doesn't escape the tired Hollywood brain-dead action formula it is based upon, while the short duration makes it impossible to feel anything for the war drama. Which is kind of a shame considering how it began in a very interesting way.

It's been a long time since our little Japanese folks have made a CGI feature film boasting a successful video game in the racks. To be exact, if possible, you may have seen Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within (2001). It's a groundbreaking milestone for such films to improve with less mediocrity. And when it comes to reviving the Resident Evil films, it's the salvation. Starting with the first CG feature of RE titled Degeneration, the new sequel brings something if not good, refreshing to the tables. With its eye-candy CGI and sharp storytelling, Damnation is the best Resident Evil to date. Why does RE fans have to suffer from Paul W.S Anderson's live-action mash up? It's not just me that's saying this. We all somehow hate the franchise that this director made since 2000. We could've preferred George A. Romero's version if it wasn't because of staying too far from the video games' jaded narrative. In Damnation, we get a solid touch of the games' serious story. The film starts with a backstory of the American and Russian's civil war. Afterwards, Leon S. Kennedy (voice acting by Matthew Mercer) get sucked it on the Eastern Slav Republic determined to destroy the BOWs (abbreviated as Bio Organic Weapons). The BOWs have a master-slave relationship with the Plaga parasites, a jelly-looking infecting organism. The Plaga parasite may introduce gamers to Resident Evil 5, where it played a huge role. But in the film, it may introduce well for the plot.Meanwhile, another RE character Ada Wong (voiced by Courtaney Taylor) also disguises as a member of the BSAA under the republican President Svetlana (Wendee Lee). Ada's mission is to retrieve a sample of the Plaga. Other than that, she's under incognito.Resident Evil Damnation combines what's fun when playing the video games: The story is intriguing and thrilling, the voice acting is cheesy but otherwise good, and the action setup is over-the-top. I had fun with the Bluray version of the film, the CG elements has never been this jarring. Although, the camera setups looks like it's been ripped out as game cutscenes. Comparably, Degeneration focused more on escapism, and the story looks solid as its sequel. The movie made the video-game feel. There are scenes where we experience first-person perspective. There's no good and bad with it. Although we expect something more with the movie, other than seeing the characters do their exploit maneuver (fight scenes) to make the CG elements eye- popping without the 3D glasses. But the high-definition elements is not pretentious, it's a guilt-free ride. The only main downside is that it is less scary than that of its predecessor. Because it focused not on the usual zombies, but on the Lickers (creatures with vicious tongue) and the Tyrants (huge stomping creatures). But when it comes with the games, it's fatal to kill. All we could do is to plead with Leon to kill it for us.Now that my hands are down for another installment, Damnation is the kind of movie that hang RE fan for a sequel. It's a thrill ride and a technical breakthrough.

I just finished watching the movie, and I must say I am not a fan of the game series, because it went pretty downhill from Resident Evil 3, which was one hell of a scary game. I don't like this whole Leon character. I would've liked the animation more if it remained faithful not to the games but to the Resident Evil movies, especially the RE 1 and RE 2. It's Allis that I am after not Leon. I had never tried a 3D animation before. I must say it was way better than most 3D movies like the Amazing Spiderman, The Avenges, and many other 3D titles. Since I am not a fan, I only watched it for the 3D and I was pleasantly surprised. I just didn't see any pop-out effects, but the depth was impressive. The 3D was most noticeable during the time we got to see close-up shots of "Madam President" and the other girl. For an animation, it did contain some scenes which I suppose would be pretty gross to people who are not used to horror movies. Being a horror movie hound, I didn't mind it though. The fight scenes were very well done, and the details were simply amazing. I just thought the movie dragged a bit, but it's probably because I was not concerned with the story but with the 3D effects. All in all, it was satisfying and I would recommend it to the fans and to 3D lovers alike.

I loved this movie! Just saying it out straight! After getting it on Sunday night, I watched it twice in one night and am still not over it.The graphics have been given a better improvement then Degeneration, but I would like to see an improvement in the lip synching. Other then that, it looked very good. The plot is good too, I love how it it describes the civil war at the beginning of the movie. I think this was a nice touch and good way to start a movie. The voice acting was perfect, although, playing RE6 better watching this, wasn't quite a good idea. And to me, it really got me to feel for the characters.Resident Evil fans, I suggest picking this up more than Degeneration, now that's a good sign.
