Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

It's no master piece, but it is way better than it's current score (atm 5.6). This is a classic action movie somewhere in the middle of an unholy "bond", "die hard" and "taken" trinity.Malin Åkerman makes an impressive acting performance in every way, incluing an extremely convincing "being knocked out"-scene. She kills her role in every way possible and this role should never be held agains her in any way. The story is much deeper than first portrayed and makes you feel for the protagonist, even before there is a dilemma portrayed. Once the dilemma is in place, the story goes on in a well paced manor but without any big surprises. To keep it short, this movie is really enjoyable but you might be able to guess the outcome even after 10 minutes of runtime.8/10

THE NUMBERS STATION is a mediocre thriller based rather loosely on fact. Numbers stations do exist, to broadcast coded radio messages to spies in the form of numbers. In the film it is actually how the CIA controls an army of assassins who not only operate in the USA but whose main roles seems to be to kill former CIA staff (presumably none of the assassins ever wonder if they'll be next). The hero - a rumpled John Cusack - is inevitably a burn out - he killed a couple of civilians on his last job of course - assigned to babysit a woman, whose only job is to read the numbers, in a bunker in the UK. Inevitably baddies get inside and proceed to do bad things: can our heroes reverse the false numbers they inserted and survive? The plot is full of holes, the story relies on wonky flash backs and the characters are stock but the Scandi director and short running time mean the film is just about watchable provided you leave your brain at the door.

if anyone remembers the film the number 23 where Jim Carrey just goes crazy & gets obsessed with numbers that film actually was seriously hilarious now its John Cusack in numbers station.the plot:black ops agent Kent is sent to a CIA broadcast station to protect a code operator Katherine.the technical department worked on this film did a bad job there is no proper light use, sound, editing most of all i didn't get the dialogs the actors cant speak properly and why there always has to be a lady that needs help in all agent films.the cast:what was John Cusack doing here sir please look at script first your the next Steven Segal if you keep this up,Malin Akerman did some good acting rest cast is wasted this movie is boring despite the good plot critics may like it but its far from an audience entertainer. overall the numbers station 2013 is a dull effort from the makers my rating is 2/10 avoid it for you own good and don't fall for the hype.Skipp it.

John Cusack stars in "The Numbers Station," costarring Malin Akerman. Directed by Kasper Barfoed, it was filmed in England.Cusack plays Emerson Kent, a black ops agent. One night on assignment, he enters a house, executes somewhat, and the man's daughter appears on the steps. He's not supposed to leave any witnesses, but he runs out of the house. She runs after him, asking why he killed her father, and Kent's partner (Liam Cunningham) sees her and orders Kent to shoot her. He can't.Kent gets a bad psych evaluation and is transferred to an out of the way station where he is to guard the young woman, Katherine, announcing the codes. There are a few other people working there; one night, the station is ambushed and dangerous codes, orders, are put into the system. In order to change them, Katherine has to work backwards to get the original codes back. Then Kent gets a phone call that "the asset is to be eliminated." Faced with having to kill another innocent person, and faced with a continued security breach, Kent has a decision to make.I admit I had no idea what these people were doing at that station, they might as well have been speaking Swahili. However, it was a tense, exciting, and suspenseful film, and a nice character study of Cusack's character. Everyone else, including the Akerman character, isn't well developed. This comes off like a small movie, the kind you don't need to see in a theater. I rented it and enjoyed it.
