It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

I made a terrible mistake by relying on this movie's score here on IMDb and gave it a try. It took me two days to try and finish this nonsense, trying to pause for sandwiches, phone calls I didn't want to make and even doing bits of work - anything just in order to not continue. I felt, however, that if I follow fellow spectators's advice, the plot was going to suddenly give me at least *some* thrills that the beginning/development of the movie failed to deliver. No way it's anywhere near a 6. This movie is ridiculous crap. Don't bother, it won't even work as a time killer. Just find something else to watch.I am not sure how they lured Keifer Sutherland into this project, it must have been about money vs effort implied. But I must say, it looks like he tried to be an actor through this disaster and work off the money, while everyone else involved was wiser and didn't bother acting.Plain awful, it will bore you out of your trousers.

I've watched enough films now to know how a film will pan out. The beginning is somewhat boring. However, halfway through the film I was surprisingly gripped it's like what happened in the start is irrelevant and almost acceptable because I was so gripped... Then I started to think the film was actually good and I'd been too harsh. But then towards the end of the film it does go somewhat downhill. I can't work out if it was a good film or not. I think it introduces irrelevant plots at the start and focuses on them too much. But that's not the real issue...I think the film drags a little bit? It's missing something which is preventing me from rating it higher than a 6! I just don't know what. The ending is actually quite good... But it's more what happened before the actual ending that is a let down.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this film. I'd say it's okay but not something I'd recommend. It's better than other films I've seen because you are gripped in the middle of the film... But it's not an amazing film.I think the acting could have been better... Because the plot isn't too bad apart from how the ending came about, I just don't feel like the characters were really 'into' their roles.I've watched this film and I'd rate it a 6. If nothing else is on then watch this film. I wouldn't recommend renting this film or choosing it over another one... It's not that good.

Mirrors is the American remake of a little known Korean film called Into the Mirror. The plot has Kiefer Sutherland as a recovering alcoholic cop, who whilst on suspension is taken to working as a security guard at a large burnt out department store and starts to see terrifying images in the many mirrors about the place... You would think that Mirrors was a flop. The critics hated it and the horror hordes were very much divided on it, the latter of which is to be fair the norm for any big horror movie release. Yet it didn't flop, it did very well at the box offices of the world and has a decent 6.2 average on IMDb, which for a divisive horror film is well above average.Mirrors overstays its welcome, there really was no need for it to run to just under two hours in length. While elsewhere there's some pretty poor dialogue, parts of the screenplay are pointlessly soap opera in nature, while some thinking will make you scratch your head in bewilderment at events outside of the brilliantly monolithic department store. However, does Mirrors create a genuinely spooky atmosphere (the interiors of the store are creep fest nirvana), insert some shock moments to jolt you out your seat? Is it visually stylish, with sound work to match? And does Sutherland (and to a degree Paula Patton as his wife) overcome the trite parts of the script and give effective and committed performances? The answer to those questions is yes.Does the ending cop out in any way? Insult the audience? No! It doesn't do that either. It has flaws, but they are not insurmountable for the horror fan who's just looking for some good scares, atmospheric dread and some stylish touches from the director (Alexandre Aja). If you haven't seen it then give it a try, judge for yourself, you might be pleasantly surprised at what you find. 7.5/10

I understand that many people want to see more psychological horror as many horror films in recent years use jump scared which I've seen referred to as "not real horror". Mirror brings just what you are looking for.Aja builds suspense brilliantly so there is the occasional slight jump. Otherwise, it is a cleverly shot film showing our fears.Have you ever wondered what your reflection does when you aren't looking? Kiefer Sutherland plays a suspended cop who is working as a security guard at an abandoned department store filled with mirrors. However, in the mirrors are not just his reflection...I will not spoil what happens or how it ends. If you were to watch the opening scene you would get a feel for what the film is like. With strong violence (as per usual for Alexandre Aja), Mirrors will satisfy all groups of horror fans.
