The Pyramid (2014)

Absolutely Fantastic

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

OMG The only thing I seen that is thinner than this is a skimpy buffet. Complete pile of poop not worth watching, when watching this it was like they tried to rip of The Mummy and Alien Vs Predator in one go. The Main Archaeologist doesn't understand the meaning of tension therefore there was none in a film, The Characters are just not believable and some points in the story had major holes. I just felt like I had been totally ripped off, I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and watch the whole thing, but that was a really bad call on my behalfSeriously guys and Girls don't waste your time with this

When I first learned about this movie (seeing it available for rent at my neighbourhood video store), I was puzzled, because it was from a major Hollywood studio and yet I hadn't heard of it. Subsequent research on my part uncovered that the studio didn't give the movie much publicity or distribution to theaters, and after watching the movie I think I can see why. It gets off to a decent start - there is a little thrill by the setup of finding an ancient Egyptian pyramid and wondering what may be inside. However, after the first twenty or so minutes, things start to go downhill. The protagonists certainly don't act like professional archaeologists as they make their way into the pyramid, and they make a lot of decisions that would be considered stupid for any kind of person. The worst thing about the movie, however, is that it's not at all scary or even mildly creepy - it seems to be going right by the book instead of adding originality or surprises. It certainly doesn't help that the CGI special effects are really bad, giving the movie both a cheap feeling and a phony feel. So in the end I'm glad that I waited for a copy of this movie to show up in my local library so I could then see it for free.

You know, it's truly a shame when a legendary film is poorly copied by a hack. As we all know, Alien is the godfather of haunted house horror stories. There's no equal to that film. Ridley Scott crafted a tale of terror that many have attempted to duplicate, but none have been ever able to succeed. Sure, there are a couple of decent off-shoots: The Thing and Predator. Even The Cave(2005) wasn't that bad. But, the one thing that links the three aforementioned films is great writing. There is none of that here. This is nothing more than trash. I honestly don't know how this film was green-lit for the cinema. This film has the Sci-Fi channel written all over it. As a previous reviewer wrote, this film has bad acting, bad writing, bad lighting(in a few scenes), and making it a very pointless film. So, to all who are interested in seeing this film, don't waste your time.

I won't give any spoilers so I will make this simple and spot on. The movie has very good promise and tons of jump scares. That's why I gave it a 6. Plain and simple negative though. the ending is dumb with horrible graphics. Not sure if they ran out of brains and money but wow. Shocking how a movie that was on it's way to an 8 went and dropped 3 stars in the final 15 minutes of the movie. Totally worth watching though. It will cause claustrophobia and anxiety and make you jump several times before you get to the dumb ending. Shame on the directors for ruining a great movie that people would be talking about for years. What were the two writers thinking. Kudos to you for keeping me and my 20 year old daughter entertained.
