Beauty and the Beast (2014)
Forced to face the cruel side of life, a devastated, bankrupt merchant chances upon the enchanted castle of a hideous creature, the mere sight of it chills the bone to the marrow. There, a fate worse than death awaits the poor father-of-six, who, after plucking a sweet-scented rose from the repulsive master's verdant garden, must do the impossible: permit his compassionate daughter, Belle, to take his place and pay for the sins of her parent. Now, an impenetrable mystery shrouds the haunted mansion, and, as repugnance gradually turns into affection, only true love could break the spell.

Memorable, crazy movie
As Good As It Gets
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Is it perfect no, but it is worth the watch. I have repeatedly watched this movie just for some of the small details I may have missed the first time around. Contrary to most of the negative reviews the cgi is Not terrible and ssooooo obvious. Missing a bit of love story but you get the point. Closer to the original story than most of the remakes.Basically watch it once and judge it yourself.
This blew me away. I couldn't believe how much I loved it. I have attention deficit disorder and I actually sat and watched this without doing anything else, getting up, or looking away. That almost never happens and I cannot stress that enough. The film looks stunning and has high quality camera work and art direction. The costuming is incredible. The casting and acting is top notch (truly). But what I especially appreciate and what really stood out for me and tempted me to write a review was that this was not the same scripted tale of Beauty and the Beast we have been over saturated with by Disney. This is a new story and not predictable and much more adult even. Yes there is still that question of whether Belle is just suffering from the syndrome that kidnap victims can get for their captors but at least he is smart and when they bicker it's believable there is chemistry. I recommend this and trust me that it's not the same story over again, it is quite different.
An unexpected romance blooms after the the youngest daughter of a merchant who has fallen on hard times offers herself to the mysterious beast to which her father has become indebted. Beauty and the Beast is a movie that suffers from boring characters and a story that has been told 1.000.000 times by now and it's getting confusing, boring and bad and this version proves it this is not Disney or that 80's show with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton instead we have untalented Vincent Cassel as the Beast and Léa Seydoux as Belle who does a nice job after 15 or 20 minutes pass you will start skip scenes for the film to reach it's finale. Plus the cgi was awful this film gets a non recommend without a doubt.
'La belle et la bête' (2014).First time I saw this movie I had Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' (TOP-class) too much in my mind. I disliked 'La belle et la bête' (2014). But the last one kept spinning in my head. After 3 times looking at this movie and trying to understand the French version (Dutch subtitled) I must say it is at least worth an 8-stars score. 'Two' points missing because of the too heavy 'anger wood' scenes in the end. 'Lord of the Rings' type animation. And so ending too far from the French fairytale. Other comments may be: Belle, Léa Seydoux: Typical French beauty with sad eyes. Beast, Vincent Cassel: Not the best casting choice. 'Little doggies' in the castle are weak animations. Belle's two sisters, 'too dombo' casting and too much dressed down. Holding a golden arrow in her hand on her dying ladies body is 'cheapness' and far from 'reality'.But, still for me this movie is a must have in my library.
