The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 2! By: SteffiYou should see Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 . The movie is funnier than ever! I'm impressed of their job in the movie. The characters are Alvin,Simon,Theodore, & Elvanmor,Brittany,& Jeanette. My favorite character is Theodore because she is cute he is also a little fat. and loves his family like Alvin,& Simon. and he likes Elvanmor. for her friends. One reason is I like this movie is because they add many emotions I can think of like sad, happy, annoyed, desperate, and angry. When I saw the movie I laughed so hard I almost cried but not for sadness. This movie includes props and pranked stuff.THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME! They mostly include singing and dancing. The movie is so cool I didn't even finish my popcorn because I was so hooked in the movie when the movie was brand new. I would recommend 10 out of 10 stars! You should see Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 I recommend you go! Come on go!

The he and she chipmunks were adorable. The variety of their songs was amusing. Zachary Levi was cute and funny. The colors were soothing, and the comedy was mild. The script provided nice time. I loved smartly written moments like how the nerd boy, played by Levi, had to supersede the chipmunks at the party with his singing, so his old flame got the chance to hear his feelings for her rightly. Plus smartly made moments, like the mission of rescuing the she chipmunks with a motorcycle chase. So, eventually, what the heck were the haters yakking about ??!!You know what are the real problems of this movie? I'll tell you : Not having (Jason Lee) as the co-lead (that was done for never-understood reason !). One fart joke I hated. And the fact of the movie as short. However, it does satisfy me the way it is, and clearly for the aforementioned reasons. Therefore, some reviewers made me angry with remarks like "This is full of claptrap.", well, you're full of claptrap yourselves !This is light fun, as non fat cake. It worked / works / will work for me. Who can't feel joy in heart by the chipmunks singing Beyoncé Knowles's Single Ladies ?!

You know this still works for the little ones, but will appall a lot older viewers, than say the first one did. It's basically more of the same, even with the addition of some Chipmunks "rivals" (another group of talking ...). The little ones won't mind (I watched it with my nephew and he enjoyed it), but what about the parents? There are other movies that can please both.Still not really that bad, you can watch this in its own right or at least put the kids there and let them enjoy it. It's like the Chipmunks won't grow up (literally and physically that is), but again it's only us grown-ups that will think about things like that.

The first Alvin and the Chipmunks movie took the tried and tested rock 'n' roll fable route, charting its talented rodents' rise to fame, their big break, the bitter struggle with the many temptations of stardom, and their inevitable exploitation by unscrupulous business types. Elation, heartache, excitement, despair, fear, joy: it was all there, along with gags about poo.The plot for The Squeakquel—a formulaic high-school based morality tale about the importance of loyalty—isn't quite as strong and the film definitely lacks the freshness of the original, but there is still enough good stuff here to warrant a watch, especially if you're already a fan of the furry trio.Betty Thomas does a decent enough job in the director's chair, delivering plenty of not too sophisticated laughs and lots of energetic musical numbers, the effects are on par with the original, and the cast all put in more than adequate performances (David Cross as evil Ian providing my favourite gag right at the end of the film). On top of all that, Alvin, Theodore and Simon are joined by the slick high-pitched harmonies of the Chipettes, an equally talented trio of female chipmunks—bookish Jeanette, big-boned Eleanor, and sexy Brittany (errr... did I say sexy? I meant cute. Time to go now, I think!).
