I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

I honestly didn't know what to think going in, considering the amount of bad reviews this film received back when it came out. Well...at least the actors seem to be trying to save this movie from absolute failure. I actually did enjoy the performances, and the characters (except for Zoe) are actually believable. My only problem is that everyone was either bland (The Mains) Annoying (Eva) or just completely unlikable (Clay and Niko) The Story is not amazing by any standard of the word, and while the premise is....interesting, it doesn't do anything to hook you in, and the actual way it's executed is rather lazy. Once the characters return to the lab, everything just...kind of happens. Suddenly the EMBODIMENT OF MARY SUE that is Zoe is evil and wants to kill everybody, and she does! Oh and there's a really stupid plot twist i'm not even going to mention because if i do you'll literally turn into a piece of toast and be eaten by the nearest person. My Recommendation is to watch if you're interested, but otherwise never even consider it.

I couldn't stand looking at the way the animals were treated. It was awful. Do the movie without having to put a dog in restraints, then in a cage, then make it act like it's psychotic. Really not necessary. Stick to humans. Animals can't say "no." I was very disappointed in this movie. I supposed the plot was fine, I just didn't like the whole tenor of it. Everything about the movie seemed very haphazard and written without any depth. And, like i said, they just should have excluded the dog from the script. He wasn't needed and it was upsetting to see him being shot up and restrained, even if animal welfare was on the set, which I hope it was. Probably they didn't really shoot him up, it was just so disturbing, the absolute disrespect for life.

Do not waste your time watching that movie. I have no idea how this got reviews that rated it beyond horrible. It just deserves one star because it wasted money to produce. The whole part that is supposed to be of horror and somewhat scary, run for about 20 minutes, and may I add it was VERY unoriginal, lacking emotion/passion. It's disgraceful people who have absolutely no skills for horror are still entitled enough to think they can make something work.... And the result is something like the "Lazarus Effect". Look for another movie or re-watch the classics. Olivia Wilde as usual is horrible, but I can't believe Evan Peters from AHS actually agreed to make this movie. Shocking.

A group of medical researchers discover a way to bring dead patients back to life. The Lazarus Effect suffers from a boring plot and characters that has been done more than 10 times every year it's not scary or even interesting after a while the only good thing about it it's without a doubt Olivia Wilde as Zoe the girl who came back from the dead and started killing her friends. This is the first time that i ever watched a horror film with some potential but the writing is just so mediocre and the characters are so boring that it ruins the whole experience that it makes you want to see every single one of them get killed by her at times it doesn't make sense also especially the ending when Zoe brings back Frank for some unknown reason i would like to see a part 2 but only if it was interesting and the characters were written better. I will give The Lazarus Effect a 5.5/10.
