The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

While the first one was really well exploited, this second one is much more obvious in humor and probably not half the comedic material of the first over its course. There are a couple maybe three really funny Mr.Bean moments, and a couple of snorty gags, but you really have to go into this one with the lowest expectations, on the momentum of having really liked the first part, and an unconditional fan of Rowan Atkinson's trusting anything with him as a lead can't be an abysmal experience. It's alright, but barely holds up as both a crime action, and a comedy. Also, Rosamund Pike is beyond attractive. What would be a word for that. "Meta-attractive" ?5.5/10.

Johnny English Reborn (2011): Dir: Oliver Parker / Cast: Rowan Atkinson, Gillian Anderson, Dominic West, Rosamund Pike, Daniel Kaluuya: Well made yet routine sequel to the first film, which came off as dumb as oppose to farce. This one regards secret agent Johnny English in seclusion and repairing his mental state after a failed assignment that left his subject dead. Now he is assigned to claim some sort of key as well as protect a Chinese official from assassination. While the plot is recycled with its hero off in a distant land to "find himself", the structure contains a lot of clever sight jokes that gear towards an ending that surprisingly works. Rowan Atkinson as English must prove himself and is given a few great scenes including his pursuit of a much faster villain, as well as his out witted nature of giving the key to the villain. In the end he will face the odds at a winter resort where earlier training comes into play. What doesn't work here are the cardboard supporting roles. After the success of X- Files one wonders why Gillian Anderson is reduced to the standard high official who sends English on his mission. Dominic West plays a villain who has been duplicated many times over. Rosamund Pike plays an intelligence agent who believes in English even when he is at his weakest but the role is merely a romantic prop. Daniel Kaluuya plays English's much more intelligent sidekick. The film is clever in its humour just as long as viewers can accept the fact that presenting a message is not part of the mission in a franchise that did not need reborn in the first place. Score: 5 ½ / 10

When a plot to assassinate the Chinese premier is detected the British reluctantly decide to call in a former member of MI-7 by the name of "Johnny English" (Rowan Atkinson) to assist in the case. This results in him flying to Hong Kong to meet an important contact but when his contact is killed in front of him his involvement becomes much more intense than MI-7 had initially planned. Additionally, as in the previous film it soon becomes apparent that he has a certain knack for getting to the bottom of things despite his inherent clumsiness. Now rather than reveal any more of this movie and risk spoiling it for those who haven't seen it I will just say that this was a solid sequel to the 2003 movie "Johnny English". In that regard, Rowan Atkinson performs quite capably with Rosamund Pike (as "Kate Sumner") definitely adding to the scenery. In short, this turned out to be an amusing movie and I rate it as about average.
