Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Young Albert enlists to serve in World War I after his beloved horse is sold to the cavalry. Albert's hopeful journey takes him out of England and to the front lines as the war rages on. War Horse is another History Epic from Steven Spielberg the director of classics such as 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Jurassic Park'. The film definitely benefits from the terrific acting from the leads especially Jeremy Irvine but also the bond between Albert and his horse. Spielberg fans won't be disappointed but tho beware the film is pretty long but far from boring. (A+)

Let's get down to the point.Spielberg delivered another masterpiece on war with this beauty. Its gripping right from the beginning. The beautiful landscapes, the majestic horse scenes, the emotions in the house of the protagonists all set the tone for an epic from the first half an hour itself.Gradually the movie gets more tense and the grip tightens. What first appeared to be a nice, little movie on human-animal relationship gradually exposes the uglier sides of the war.And in the end, it strikes the right chords in your heart and make you shed tears.A lot indeed. The brutality on the animals towards the last hour or so was so unbearable yet realistic that you can not but clap when it all ends well our protagonist finally meets his friend Joey at the end after series of grueling experiences over a span of few years. Spielberg has never been so emotional in war movies thus far and you actually love the emotions. It is perhaps an emotional roller coaster of two and half hours through different countries, different stages of the war and differential treatments to the animals. The cinematography is brilliant. The same is about the actors. But the real show stopper is the brown beauty- the Horse Joey. You will definitely be a better human being after finishing this movie.Go and watch it if you have not yet done so.Another treasure in the famous trove of Master Spielberg.

In the beginning, War Horse looks like a rather standard boy-and-his-pet movie, as a young man takes charge of and falls in love with a horse. This takes place in lovely farmland with picturesque people. It's good, especially Emily Watson as the mom, but it's not ultimately what the movie is.When the horse is sold to a soldier at the beginning of world war I, it becomes clear that this is a movie not about a boy's love for his horse but about the ways in which war destroys everything it touches. This is not a war between good and evil, but instead a war between human beings who have been born in one country or another. No one even seems to understand what the fight is about; they just fight because they are told to.The horse, Joey, finds himself on both sides of the conflict, and his story becomes the tale of the people whose lives briefly intersect with his. It is a way to tell a story in breadth, although for some the approach is too episodic. As of now, this is the last time Spielberg really showed off his visual flair. At first, the movie is just scenic, but as it moves into war, there are stunning sequences, like soldiers riding through a wheat field or a terrible act synchronized to the turn of a windmill blade, that remind you of Spielberg's films of the previous century.Well worth watching.

I mostly hated this because terrible cliché story line but one thing I cant stand anymore is that the story takes place in England?! Wtf?! I wanna see American war movies, not crap from another country. Why would Spielberg waste his time to make a garbage children's movie about this? When I first watched it I thought it was in the us in 1912. But then I saw the English flag and I immediately lost interest. Thats just my opinion though. Forgive me for loving this country enough. And ill stick to some good war movies that's actually about the country I live in. I cant stand watching war movies that shows the view of other countries. Maybe if this movie was about the us I might have liked it. But now its a disaster in my opinion no offense to Europe.
