Load of rubbish!!

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

The script is pretty rubbish; it's something that was obviously written by high school students.However, the performances are fantastic. Every single actor puts in an amazing effort; and Emilia Jones is a standout, for her age. Worth watching just to appreciate the performers. Not the story, that's awful.

Everyone knows Billy Connelly is funny and you can almost guarantee a laugh watching any movie he is in, similarly you can say it for most movies Ben Miller is in. Well that is my opinion anyway.Well forget that those two are in this one and watch this for the three funniest characters you will probably ever watch. They are all 10 years old or younger.I laughed so much in this movie and just loved it to bits.Watch it if you get the chance, absolutely hillarious.

What We Did on Our Holiday is a shocking movie with a poorly written storyline and a promising cast that couldn't do anything to save this. It fails on so many levels, the only worth while part of this entire movie is Billy Connolly's performance, which was very real as he plays a man concerned about the day he dies, something that he has been worried about himself for a while now, other than that everything else in this is disastrous, the biggest mistake they made is putting the three children as the main characters, they have more scenes than Rosamund Pike or David Tennant do, which is simply ridiculous, the kids have no charisma and clearly had very little acting experience. To say that this movie dosen't have a good story is an understatement, because there's isn't even a proper story, I can't properly describe to you what actually happens, other than it starts off seeming like a light hearted family comedy, and then takes a dark, unexpected turn that is without a doubt the most disturbing scene I've ever seen in a movie with a 12 rating. As a comedy it fails, there is not a single scene that I laughed or even grinned at, it tries too hard to be funny, it then goes on to try and be sweet and emotional, which is also an embarrassment, I'm never given a reason to care for these characters, so I don't believe there is any reason for me to feel for them when their conflict is resolved. Slow pace, unfunny and overly sentimental, I would certainly give What We Did on Our Holiday a miss if I were you. marvellous little movie this...slipped right through the net .I hold a Cineworld Unlimited Card and watched this at an Unlimited screening which confused me a bit...Why was such a low budget British movie have an Unlimited Screening then disappear without a trace?A few reviews have said this wasn't as funny as a comedy ,,,but it's not a comedy..it's a slice of what seems to be a normal family life and all the politics it holds.Every cast member gives incredible performances from young to old...Billy Connolly has the most sublime dialogue and the children shine. Also the chemistry between David Tennant and Rosamund Pike is electric.For those who say the situation gets silly in the second half I say this ....think of the silliest thing you have done as a 10 year old then judge.Marvellous 90 odd minutes.
