It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

It was refreshing to see Chris Evans portray this kind of role after quite some time. He is a screenplay writer who is forced to write a rom-com. He is a person who doesn't believe in love after a traumatic incident involving his mother. He believes his life is perfectly fine with his bunch of friends, his grandfather, and occasional flings. He has a deadline coming up, his agent is pressurizing him, and he has no clue what to do. He has a severe writer's block until he meets her at a charity event. Love at first sight for him. A friend and support for her. He confesses his love, but she is already engaged. Now, it is up to him to fight or let go. There are a few laughs here and there throughout the movie.Chris Evans keeps the energy and spunk alive. Michelle also plays her part well, as the girl torn between love and stability. On the flip-side, I found the story clichéd in some places. On an afterthought, quite a treat if you are a Chris Evans fan.

Rom-Coms are not the easiest to make. If you try to make a real good one that is. But even the "bad" ones make their money back mostly. And I wouldn't categorize this as a bad one. Does it have some misplaced dialog and some clichés in it? Yes, though it's not the first one to do so and its lead actors are charming enough for you to not care too much about that. While the inevitable outcome is predictable, there may be a few obstacles along the way that are kind of refreshing to see. And while our main protagonist could easily slip into unlikeable territory, Chris Evans is there to save him from that fate. No pun intended, for a decent effort. Nothing more, but certainly nothing less either

I don't mind the occasional romcom. As a matter of fact I rented this at the same time i rented "Love, Rosie". Neither were anything to write home about or recommend, but this one in particular was weak. The biggest problem here is the writing - which is deplorable. The plot around the lead character is dropped like a dead fly. There is just absolutely no momentum for the plot. The whole "writing" theme isn't tackled well at all(kinda mirrors the whole script actually), and Chris Evans doesn't really fit the bill either. Don't get me wrong, I like Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan very much, but this will easily qualify as one of their worst. They don't have any chemistry here. The biggest problem is Michelle's 'playing hard to get' which really derails the whole thing. It's not the acting... it's the writing.. there's no significantly well- written dialog between these two, and then the hard-to-get theme, the oddball friend thang, and the completely ball-dropped writing subject of the plot come together to give us this.... a completely under-whelming romcom.I would definitely pass on this one. "Love, Rosie" wasn't great, but it was a lot better following this. There's just not much at the Redbox - here's yesterdays Redbox ratings: Love, Rosie 5.5/10 Playing It Cool 4/10 Spare Parts 6.5/10 Wild Tales 8.5/1042/100 Pass! Even fans of the genre. Drab.

This movie left me speechless it was so bad. It took me a while to be able to review it since it was so bad I had no idea where to begin.Well first of all a DOUCHBAG of a guy, yes I do not root for this @ss#0le at all, pretty much uses/lies to/abuses women. Why? Because his mother left him as a kid? REALLY? LOL MOST people have no real parents these days. Divorce rate is 50%. You MOSTLY have 1 parent most of the time.SO.... the writers EXPECT the viewer to root for this self-obsessed spoiled brat!? The main character is suffering from what best can be called "Entitled spoiled whiny stupid white boy syndrome." You know those guys that expect the world to revolve around THEM! Wow just disgusting.....He basically USES women as physical objects for his own gain ONLY, then whines/rants about how he has all these problems. So....everyone should care about you and no one else? Don't these women have problems as well? What about their feelings? Oh right sexism....who cares, just terrible. As always with "Entitled spoiled whiny stupid white boy syndrome" the subject just expects everything to fall into his lap. He takes a liking to a girl at an event, RIGHT AFTER insulting all the women at said event to be repulsive...wow. She is in a relationship. So what does our subject do, steal her away! Wow classic "Entitled spoiled whiny stupid white boy syndrome!"Here is what the writers do, ACTUALLY MAKE THE WORLD REVOLVE AROUND HIM. A woman would NEVER go with a guy that INSULTED her. They make her bf a worse man than our main subject. And the girl that is apparently 'in love' with our subject helps him to get this girl? Wow talk about wishful thinking. These things never happen...More gross things going on in this movie, everyone smokes...disgusting the encouragement of MORE bad behavior. Drink all your problems away...what? Just when it could not get any worse it does! He plans to ruin her wedding! Wow and of course she does not go through with it...random. Bad writing again. This whole movie is warped beyond any realism. NONE of these characters are real. They are even worse than a FANTASY movie. I mean like Harry Potter, at least the characters can exist minus all the magic.... I am assuming it was movies/media like this that encouraged shooters like Elliot Rodger to kill. "Why don't women come up to me?" He actually said it 'happened in the movies.' How sad movies like these exist and some people take them seriously. ENOUGH Hollywood, we see though your (rap. Stop making TOTALLY unrealistic movies. Yes, it's a 'rom-com' but this is too big a pill of lies to swallow!
