Best movie of this year hands down!
Too much of everything
Admirable film.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
It's a romantic comedy...it's science fiction...it's an existential drama...it's funny...it's sad...it's thought provoking...it's infantile...it stars a comedian playing a boring, depressed, lovesick underachiever...it's my favorite film and it's not even close. Here's to films that break all of the rules of convention and work beautifully.
This film is so intelligent on so many levels. The way the story is told and how it is presented is perfect. The story perfectly breaks down the concept of love by using a non-naturalistic Sci-Fi concept. It's very unique. The type of love presented has been seen hundreds of times before but never like this. The way it shows how they only chose to forget eachother (because of the bad things) is because they had the chance to forget eachother. They realised that they wanted to remember the good things, not forget it all because of the bad things. The directing and visuals in this film are amazing; with a naturalistic style in the real world and a Non-naturalistic style when it is inside the character's mind. The only slight complaint I have is that it takes a little time to reach the main story; but this is understandable, as it takes a while to set up a concept like this.Overall this film is great. The more I think About it, the more I love it.
Its genius is its simplicity that creates a most complex narrative that I still try to understand.
The movie is a little overrated, i were expecting so much more. It's just ok mostly of time, Joel is just heartbroken like us all
