Good start, but then it gets ruined

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

Knight Rider 2010 isn't bad. The story has a fairly solid plot, decent dialogue, some cool cars (gritty, armored cool, not slick, shiny cool), and the dusty visual aesthetic of a Mad Max movie. Nobody would go so far as to say it's a masterpiece, but as a stand-alone film, it's worth watching.The problem is that it's called "Knight Rider". With that name attached to it, you would reasonably expect a goofy story with a shiny car, and a grinning hero with an '80s hairstyle. Maybe some cute girls. Lighthearted and fun.This movie doesn't really fit that description. The only thing very Knight Rider-ish about it is the talking car and the cute girl, and the car doesn't talk for most of the movie.So if you want to see this film, force the name "Knight Rider" out of your head. Don't expect KITT and Michael, because you'll be disappointed. But if you can push those expectations aside, you might actually enjoy Knight Rider 2010. I know I did.

I watched a disc of Knight Rider 2010 which I hadn't seen since my childhood, ironically I'm writing this review in 2011, so luckily the Mad Max style apocalypse has not happened yet. Three cheers for the Action Pack TV block! In my opinion if you take it as face value as a post apocalypse car action movie its not half bad. The thing that struck at once was that even though the Knight Rider conventions are there (talking car, charismatic loner on a mission of justice) the critics are right that its just not Knight Rider. The TV movie Kight Rider 2000 and the 2010 Knight Rider remake were more legitimate than this one.I love the old western style dialog and narration. I love that the on-board computer is a sexy sounding chick who quips one liners to the hero, as opposed to a stuffy English voice. I like how the hero starts out as an outlaw with a low opinion of himself, then builds himself up. I like how in this version the hero has a young wisecracking sidekick- a Robin to the hero's Batman.Around this time Virtual Reality had become possible with 1990's computers, so it was the latest buzzword at the time. Even better was that film was able to portray Virtual worlds much better than the early computers of the time with camera tricks and funny lighting effects.To respond to the other critics who posted that wanted Hasselhoff or high tech cars in the film; obviously for a TV movie of the week they had no real budget, and so could not afford Hasselhoff or extremely expensive high tech props.Some problems I had was I did not like the silly sci fi costumes for side characters (like Kabuki, the sidekick as a Rockabilly, the Redneck with the comical large mustache) On the whole it's a nice diversion of nostalgia that suffered from exploiting the Knight Rider brand. It even has monster truck smashing scenes.

I watched this movie without linking it to the original TV series. It was long ago since they were on air, and all the kids called the episodes tot "Knight Rider" but "The KITT car!!!". So I rent Knight Rider 2010... This is one of those B-movies, with naive plot, unknown actors and cheap special effects.. But HELL I love this movie! If you expect KITT or Night - you'll be probably disappointed. So take this not as "Knight Rider", take it as a brand new story. If you like post-apocalyptic stuff and old style car battles - watch it! This movie isn't great, but it's cool! If this was a cartoon or animated series it would probably become cult classic.

I had never heard of this movie until it was played after "Knight Rider 2000" on Sci-Fi recently ... and I had wished I hadn't. It was nowhere near what "Knight Rider" was all about ... needless to say, giving it two thumbs down is not remotely close to how bad this movie was.
