I don't understand...
Did the director even try?---I'm confused how so much money was put into something the director clearly couldn't care less about. Only Storm Reid seemed to put an effort into her acting. Oprah and Reese Witherspoon were dull but that seemed what the director desired. Mindy Kaling was annoying and distracting as her awful acting took you out of the movie experience. I just don't know how the director shot this and decided "yes that's a good take." The adults in this film either mail it in or are just not talented enough for their role.
Garbage---This must be the most excruciating 2 hours at the movies i've endured in a long time. I've seen my fair share of bad movies, but this one .. oh boy ..is shockingly bad. This is from a studio that's historically churned out box-office smash hits, and has rarely, if not never, made less-than-stellar "moolah" off of its movies. So it's all the more perplexing that someone actually green-lit the finished product here. This is a disney movie, after all. Let's break it up - The story - has taken a break. Don't know where it is right now. The actors - are wasted. Everything is cringe-worthy. The colors - Well, that's all it has. Colors. The script - i doubt if there was one. If there was one, it probably was proof-read by an high-on-lsd hippie. The "moral" of the story - That's on a break too, along with the story. Ava DuVernay's last movie, Selma, was good. It had a purpose. It had a story to tell. This one, has no story. There is no reason for this movie to exist. You can tell the audience is being taken for a ride, and has taken them for fools when a $100 million movie has simply laced Ms. Winfrey with ultra-tacky sparkly make-up that was bought at the last minute from the local grocery story, and expecting that the audience (kids and adults alike) will throng to watch it. I shelled out $18 for this garbage (and i felt it was $18 too many). I suggest you don't.At the risk of pulling your hair out, i suggest watching it when you have none left to worry about.
A waste of Magic and Money---A Wrinkle in time has a very cheap and complicated plot. Even though the visual effects are stunning, the plot holes were a mess and one of the characters was extremely annoying and took excessive amounts of unnecessary screen time which really gave me a headache. Amazingly, the reason why I gave it at least a 3 out of 10 was because since they had an amazing director, she pushed the plot's performances in these scenes a slight better and the music was great and magical along with it. However, terrible characters, horrible movie introduction, no character developments, character introductions were absolutely terrible, and the build up in the movies plot was out of place. Last but not least, there is no message or theme in this movie that builds a strong connection with the audience. I spent $20 on this movie just to watch it on Dolby Cinema and it was a HUGE turn down. Don't make the same mistake I did guys. Don't waste a single dime on this movie, it's not worth it. Disney I know you can perform waaayyy better than this.
A $100 million Makeup and Dress up party for Oprah---Confused and off-script from the book. A vanity piece for Oprah. Somebody needs some therapy.
The only reason I gave it 1 star is because I couldn't give it negative stars!!!!---What a trainwreck, terrible acting, preachy storyline and a poor adaptation of a decent children's story. Recommend this movie to your worst enemy, if revenge is your game.
Horrible for Disney---This was a horrible movie. I wanted so badly to like it as I normally love everything that Disney does. I think after they produced the script they thought that hauling in big names would fix it. Wrong! I actually was excited when it ended.
YouHateGoodMovies---Disney Studios doesn't have a great track record with live action features in the last decade. The production company attempts to push their limits with a larger than life fantasy world yet misses their mark more often than not. A Wrinkle in Time (2018) is no exception. Vast colorful worlds can't make up for for its claustrophobic scenes.Feeble attempts to make sense of a magical world existing within the real one. Obnoxious child actors that take the viewer right out of the scene. From a studio that has had near a century to play around with different ways to tell a story, its a wonder they couldn't get A Wrinkle in Time correct.
Bad stuff---I don't know the book, and don't know the story, but this movie is a train wreck. Not only is the little boy impossible to understand through most of the film, the whole thing just zips by without much of an explanation. Mindy Kaling is terrible in litterly every way possible, and adding her to this cast was certainly a mistake. The rest of the acting was blah. The only good thing was how beautiful Reese Witherspoon looks. Don't waste your money. This thing is a flop.
Disappointing---It is actully that they could make such a nonsensical movie from such good starting material. By 30 minutes it is apparent that they have dumbed down all of the characters. The plot line is completely lacking. It was hard to push through to the end of the movie.
