A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The strength of this film is not in its wit, acting, or scenery. This film shines by giving insight into the quirkiness of dating and the psychology of people who don't really understand themselves when they get with other people.Lucy is a stiff-mannered ragdoll. She's constrained by good manners to not put people down, but she can't own up to her own feelings even when they hit her in the face. She fails repeatedly to draw firm lines with men, despite (as another reviewer noted) their obnoxious bad behavior (and in one case returns the favor to another date). Being an uplifting comedy, the movie ends with Lucy finally finding "Mr. Right", who accepts her as-is, and who she can accept for who he is.The charm of Lucy's character rests in her willingness to see the best in other people. Although one date seems brash and self-absorbed, she sticks it out far enough with him to establish a friendship. On the other hand, this trait leads to her entanglement with exactly the wrong sort of man, despite his blatant disregard for her on multiple occasions.Lucy is a complex woman, and her dates are complex men. For a short film, this story managed to convey a depth of character rarely seen in the genre. I recommend it to the introspective and people-watchers, but not to folks looking for a pat-story.

The movie was good not brilliant, I've seen Monica Potter in other films and yet this one just did not sit well with me. I love romantics but this film i got bored quickly. Maybe because I was hoping to see more of David Boreanaz (the only reason I watched the movie). I was very disappointed with David Boreanaz's character, looking forward to seeing him in this film but he did nothing for me and just thought he could have had a better character. He looked hot as ever no doubt, but i was not happy especially at the end I thought no why did he not play the one she ends up with?, that to me would suit him more. I love David he is my favorite actor at the moment and i will always wanna see more of him. I know the movie is more focused on Monica being the main character and all, but when you watch a movie because of an actor that you enjoy watching, and they don't end up as you like the movie can sometimes be a disappointment. I do recommend the movie to people who enjoy Monica she played well and I enjoyed her character. This is a good romantic!!!

Didn't expect much from this movie but it actually turned out to be a kind of darling idea. The plot managed to squeeze into a one year period the range of pre-marriage men most of us spend years inevitably dating before we get smart enough to realize what makes a guy Mr. Right. And I must say if I have to look at one more movie with Julie Roberts or that even sappier, Meg Ryan in it I give up on romantic comedy all together! So this leading lady seemed such a refreshing breath of air. Monica Potter is like Julia R. only way sweeter, a zillion times more original and a lot more realistic. I decided to watch this picture with my daughter because we both just adore David Boreanaz from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and ‘Angel' fame.As I am sure you guessed by now... this is...without a doubt...a chick flick. The kind of which would do the ‘WE' channel proud. That said, I really enjoyed the men in the film. All of them worked well at enabling us to picture how certain choices have the power to change our lives forever. The `dates` were also amusing because they were each unique. You could easily imagine how the heroin's life would be altered by which one she would ultimately pick as a husband. It was slightly trippy to realize*SPOILER FOLLOWS*Mr. Right was a grownup Henry Thomas whom I had not seen since his priceless performance as the adorable Elliott in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). Also worth noting that Julie Christie does a remarkable entertaining and out of character performance as Lucy's mom. While I would never need to own this movie...it's a good one night stand...as it were.

For those who have missed this gem of a movie, hurry over to Blockbuster or Hollywood Video and give it a rent.Often overlooked because of its release, I believe this charming romantic comedy has all the classic elements of the big blockbuster-types starring Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts. Monica Potter is truly unique in her portrayal of Lucy and a must see for fans of her careerEnjoy!
