The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Saw this last night as I was in the mood for a chick-flick/rom-com, but I really picked the wrong one, obviously.Movies in this genre are supposed to be either funny or romantic (usually both), and entertaining to some degree at least; this was neither. The most annoying thing was the stupid deliberate overacting. I hate Sandra Bullock-type stuff (she is the queen of overacting), so I found it extremely annoying. The lead characters are so unlikeable. It's not the actors' fault, though. Both of them are good actors, but not in THIS movie. This flick is so forgettable... I really don't understand why anyone would consider sponsoring this kind of crap. The money put into making this could've been spent a lot better, really.I'm not saying that they ought to stop making movies altogether and donate the money to the African children instead, but I AM saying that people can do without THIS sort of crap, surely. If you're looking for a decent chick-flick/rom-com, this is not it. Don't waste your time.

This movie was written by three women who can't possibly have ever had a single date amongst them. These virgin scribes don't write female characters well or male characters or young people or Caucasians or Indians or parents or children or…well, basically any variation of humanity that appears in this movie bears as much resemblance to actual people as I do to Bo Derek. Celibate monks and nuns who have never seen a member of the opposite sex could come up with a story that more closely mirrors human romance than The Accidental Husband. The entire production and everything in it is so fake and artificial that the entire cast could have been replaced by those little Playskool figures that are just plastic bodies and heads, with all the dialog voiced by really depressed Doberman Pinchers, and it wouldn't have made any difference. And don't think it is only the writing that's horrid. The invincible Britishness of Colin Firth carries him through and Ajay Naidu plays "funny ethnic stereotype" for all he's worth, but Uma Thurman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are appalling. True, this screenplay requires them to do and say things that no one would ever do or say, but I don't think director Griffin Dunne instructed them to play their characters like they were reincarnated game show hosts from the 1970s. Sam Shepard wanders through the film like he showed up on the set expecting to do the voice over for a car commercial. The rest of the supporting characters might as well be reading off cue cards. The Accidental Husband is about Doctor Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman), a relationship expert with her own radio show and a new book coming out. After she talks a woman into calling off her marriage to firefighter Patrick Sullivan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), he decides to get even by having an Indian teenage hacker make Emma and Patrick officially married in the computer records of New York State. That interferes with Emma's plans to marry the eternally safe Richard Bratton (Colin Firth) and leads to a string of ever more implausible lies and astonishingly unconvincing scenes of growing attraction between Patrick and Emma.Because this is one of those motion pictures that are so resolutely horrible I could write a review 10,000 words long and still not cover each and every example of how it sucks, I'll just stick to one thing that I believe perfectly embodies how stupendously inept it is. The Accidental Husband is a love story, like many others, about people who discover they're meant to be together and must overcome obstacles in order to unite at the end and live happily ever after. Except at this conclusion where Emma and Richard are joined in love, the last scene of the two has them contentedly separated by a glass wall. They can see and talk to each other, but they can't touch. Now, when a love story ends with the lovers kept apart like that, there should be a point to it. Whether it's thematic or psychological or subtextual or referential, if your love story is going to finish with your lovers standing in a room with a glass wall between them, THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF FRIGGIN' SIGNIFICANCE TO IT. As you may have guessed, there is no significance to such an ending here. It doesn't mean anything except "The people who wrote this film don't know what the bleep they're doing".Unless the most intimate relationship you've ever had in your life was with an inflatable sex doll, avoid watching The Accidental Husband. It's that bad.

If your standards are too high, than this is not just your cup of tea.It is a simple romantic comedy about a Radio personality who, by the nature of her job, is giving advises to callers in her program about love and relationship.A anonymous-she caller asked for her advice about a forthcoming wedding in which she advised her to call it off.Trusting her,the girl swiftly did what she told, that leads to his groom to be revengeful. With a goal to let the Radio host taste her own medicine, the man play a plot that will ruin her life as she ruined his. Then cliché follows.Th cast is strong. The plot is cute. But it did not give so much justice because of some intriguing flaw. It's very unreal and contemporary fairytale. Not to be taken seriously.

I almost deleted the recording of this movie after reading some reviews here, but of course I didn't and just finished watching it. Maybe because I went in with such low expectations, but I really enjoyed this movie for what it is - slightly screwball romantic comedy. I do consider myself somewhat of a romantic comedy aficionado as its my favorite genre of movies (I know, embarrassing). Here is my answer to some of the criticism that I read.THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS:How could Patrick just walk away from the woman he was supposed to marry (Sofia) and never look back? By the end of the movie we find out that Patrick met Sofia during a fire rescue which after carrying her 15 flights to safety he then sat by her bedside for 15 hours until she woke up. So let me get this straight, Sofia breaks off her wedding with Patrick why? Because he was a hero who rescued her? A decent guy who isn't a philanderer, an alcoholic, drug user, gambler but simply a guy who failed in a stupid compatibility test that she took in some book? She deserved to be walked away from without another look back. She was not worth the paper the wedding invitations were printed on.How could Dr. Emma jilt her wonderful perfect boyfriend Richard? It appeared to me that Richard was much more concerned with Emma's impact on his career. There was NO sexual chemistry there at all. In the early scene where he wakes her up TO READ THE BOOK REVIEW you can tell she doesn't want him to want to try and have sex with her. When she tells him she isn't sure about marrying him he tells her he isn't going to talk her into it. A man who loves you passionately would fight passionately. When Emma goes back to Richard to tell him she will marry him they hug. No lips, just a hug. Spending the rest of your life with someone without physical attraction is a battle waiting to be lost. When he tells her to find happiness at the end you can tell these are 2 people who really care about each other without that sexual pull that keeps many couples together. Emma and Richard's relationship felt like brother and sister. Marrying someone that you don't have passion for is not doing anyone any favors. Everyone deserves to be married to someone who is physically attracted to them and to show it. I LOVE LOVE Colin Firth, but as far as animal sex appeal the actor who played Patrick was all man...my god a firefighter to boot! Dr. Emma And Patrick had a lot of chemistry and he helped her find her way back to the fun loving happy woman she obviously has been trying to bury for many years. She was rejecting the kind of passion she has seen from her playboy father and his many relationships alluded to in the movie. When it comes to romantic comedies I don't care about the small details being believable - how would I know a fire unit can't go to a fire in another area? I really don't care. It works for the movie. Most romantic comedies require the viewer to let go of reality a bit. So from an romantic comedy fan, it's a fine movie. Not a great movie like 'You've Got Mail', more of a made for TV type movie, but a decent movie nonetheless. I'm glad I watched it.
