Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

If you ever wanted to watch a movie where Bill Goldberg hits Chris Kattan with the same sidekick that ended Bret Hart's career, good news. I have found the movie for you.Yep, the Mason family - including James Caan, Rebecca Gayhart, Fran Drescher and Kattan - are all fighting during Christmas dinner, but Santa arrives in time to kill them all. And that's just the start.Santa is really Satan's son - the son of a virgin birth like Jesus - who used December 25th as the "Day of Slaying" until an angel defeated him in a curling match and he was forced to deliver gifts for 1,000 years. Now, it's 2005 and Santa is ready to get some revenge. This film was directed by David Steiman, who was a production assistant for Brett Ratner. It's a slick looking film, one that ended up way better than I thought it would be.It has some interesting picks as stars, like SCTV's Dave Thomas playing a perverted pastor and Robert Culp playing the hero's grandfather (who ends up being the curling playing angel who defeated Satan's son). Plus, you know, Bill Goldberg as Santa, which gives him the chance to use his "Who's next?" catchphrase after the credits. There are much better Santa as killer movies you can watch this holiday season. And we've covered so many of them over the last few days. But if you want to be a completist - and if you're a wrestling fan and want to see Vince Russo die in a strip club massacre - then go ahead and watch this.

You know some days you don't want to put on a movie taking on more then 2 hours of your life. Or that deals with big questions like "War is Hell" or was that a statement.Sometimes you want a movie for beer and popcorn. I got enough smart movies, movies that have deeper meaning. Not to mention this movie is about holiday fear, or was it cheer.Look I be blunt with you Santa is played by a WWE wrestler.. subtlety ensues. I meant hence not at all this movie knows what it is doing, giving you funny or not so funny one liners, interesting death scenes and more. It has a few deliciously murdered characters like the lecherousness preacher.. oh my delicious. It has the crazy old coot and even a half decent back story.Don't take this movie to serious and just enjoy a Christmas movie that actually is half intelligent. And yet even more entertaining indeed.Come on just give in to the Holiday Fear, erm cheer. You will feel much better once you just let this movie be what it is. And enjoy it with a bowl of popcorn. The story has been told enough times, the level of acting and actors yeah they are more B-movie style. The story is refreshingly B-movie style it all just is a very nice B-movie.Not a BAD movie a B-movie. Compared to Deep Rising I would say Deep Rising is better but not by allot.Look let your expectations go and just enjoy this schlock fest. I say it again Beer and Popcorn and you be fine. Not to mention this will your horrible Christmas's better again.

This as to one of the most funniest horror comedy movies, I have seen in a long time. Dinner scene at the start, Was a pure classic, I thought it was really funny and with somd very funny deaths. (Who ever thought of Goldberg from WWE as a Evil Santa), he was great to watch. The whole movie was just silly however it was the good kinda of silly, Which made it really fun to watch. The acting was decent for this B-movies. I also actually liked some of the songs that madee, Some of them are very Catchy.7 out of 10, Really Funny.

Santa's Slay is a well-made Direct-to-DVD horror film that packs in a joke I'm not sure many will get. The joke is that many of the actors, like Bill Goldberg, Chris Kattan, Rebecca Gayheart, Fran Drescher seen mostly in the opening Thanksgiving sequence, are Jewish, therefore they do not celebrate Christmas. This just goes to show the kind of horror you're in for. This is very reminiscent of a 1997 horror film called Jack Frost. The film had a group of people trying to kill a mutant snowman, who spoke entirely in puns, a ridiculous backstory, and some of the most outrageous yet undeniably hilarious death scenes in any horror film. Santa's Slay takes all those things, but furthers it and makes a better movie.Bill Goldberg is Santa Claus, who we learn lost a bet to an angel in a curling game. The stakes were high, and since he was known for being mean-spirited and evil, he had to resort to spreading Christmas cheer for exactly one thousand years. Now, it's the 1001 year, and Santa is back to his original roots of hatred and hostility towards everyone. The main characters are simple but likable Nicholas Yuelson (Smith), whose grandfather (Culp) is notorious for being "crazy," and his girlfriend Mary (De Ravin). It doesn't take a genius to notice the names "Nicholas" and "Mary" and make some kind of connection.Seeing this at a very young age, around nine or ten, and learning about the history of a similar movie called Silent Night, Deadly Night I couldn't help but laugh. Silent Night, Deadly Night is about a killer Santa Claus, and upon its release in theaters was picketed by angry mothers whose children saw the commercial on Television. They said that it would forever damage their minds and a bunch of other remarks that wouldn't be true if the parents sat down with their children and spoke about the kind of entertainment and satire America's industry is run on. My mom actually bought Santa's Slay for me when I was not even in my teen years. Rather than crying, I loved it. I think young children around the ages of eleven or twelve might too if they enjoy the same demented humor I do.This film is more eventful, and sure as hell a lot less repetitive than Jack Frost. Not to mention, the backstory is well thought out. May not be the most plausible idea, but it is creative, original, and can carry a film. But nothing makes Santa's Slay unique quite like its impressive costume design. To begin with, Goldberg looks amazing as Santa Claus. He's decked out from head to toe in heavy artillery, a gray beard, an impressive cloak, a great suit complete with the gray fur, a shiny gold Santa buckle, and a huge buffalo, nicknamed his "Hell-deer," to pull his slay. He's not cheaply designed or poorly crafted - he's as realistic and as creepy as it gets.Santa's Slay is a scary holiday gem, and it manages to get away with more than Silent Night, Deadly Night did. For one, it shows the decapitation of a statue of Jesus and it managed to evade any surrounding controversy. There is also an animal killing that comes very early in the film, and for once, it doesn't distract from much of the film. It isn't necessary, but it isn't paralyzing.Starring: Bill Goldberg, Douglas Smith, Emile De Ravin, and Robert Culp. Directed by: David Steiman.
