Adolf Hitler: The Greatest Story Never Told (2013)

Far outside what's normally taught as "history", this 6-hour documentary attempts to explain what's normally glossed over - Germany's actions prior to WWII, Hitler's popularity, the support of the Nazis by the Germans, the basis for hardline Nazi stances against Jews, and why Nazism was such a danger to the established world powers. It chronicles the German WWI defeat, communist attempts to take over Germany; hyperinflation during the Weimar Republic, widespread unemployment and misery that served as the foundation of Nazi principles, and Hitler’s amazing rise to power. It also reveals a personal side of Hitler: his family background, his artwork and struggles, and what motivated him to pursue a career in politics. While open to criticism for being "pro-Nazi" in its perspectives, the documentary does present many factual foundations for those perspectives, highlighting an endless list of hypocrisies and double-standards imposed on Germany in the years before, during, and after WWII.

As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.

Great documentary that explains modern history. Excellent editing performance in tying in primary and secondary sources. I recommend this film to all History, and WWII buffs. This film fills in the blanks. Thank you!

Terribly done documentary! How can you even call this a documentary?? Don't waste your time on this nonsense. More and more one sided, the longer you watch. This "documentary" strays away from Hitler to talk about racism in America and the evils of the Soviet Union. Hitler almost seems to be praised and the documentary attempts to sway the viewer to feel pity for him; the same person who purposely tried to kill an entire race of people.

This Movie is very long but it needs to be. Denise Wise gathers all the movie and documentary footage that we have in abundance on this subject, though we have very much heard and seen the winners and victims narratives of went on in Germany and ww2, In this movie all that footage is placed in a fashion where you hear the Nazis version of events which are very rarely heard. In this movie many strange aspects of this time in history are made sense of and actually put clarity on the political shape of the world ever since the end of ww2. Why did ww2 really start? what really did NOT happen?, And why is so much untold?. This video will surely offend many, but even if one will not except these version of events, it at least puts forward a much bigger picture than we have all be taught since, and has a haunting message that is relevant to the problems Europe and other western nations are facing today. the music selection is also fantastic and perfectly captures the emotional aspect of it all.
