The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The Love Guru is actually as funny as any of the Austin Powers movies. It is cleverly written and is a LOAD of fun. This is an enjoyable movie all throughout.Humour is in a similar vein to the Asutin powers movies, though, apart from a few crass bits, I thought on a higher level still. The production values are very high, it is nicely edited and shot and Mike Myers and the other actors look like they had a fun time making it.And it shows. It is a fun, fun movie. How it managed to get such a low rating is totally beyond me.So many sanctimonious, know it alls commenting as if they are toff nosed art critics.Stuff 'em.It is almost like the Tulip Bubble and other instances of mass madness and lemming like behaviour. Sad that Mike had to be on the receiving end of it.Don't trust them. Hell, don't trust me. Just watch the first five minutes at least, as it is straight into the style of the movie.A small investment in time to make up your own mind.

Toronto Maple Leafs star player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) has fallen into a funk after his wife Prudence left him for L.A. Kings goalie Jacques 'Le Coq' Grandé (Justin Timberlake). Team owner Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba) hires Guru Pitka (Mike Myers) for $2 million to fix Roanoke. Pitka wants to be the next Deepak Chopra. He doesn't get along with the diminutive coach Punch Cherkov (Verne Troyer).Mike Myers makes a mistake right from the start by putting this as a Toronto Maple Leafs story. On top of that, Guru Pitka is a bad SNL skit. If Myers had tried this on SNL, he would have realized its inherent problems and abandoned the idea. It is borderline racist and worst of all, it's not funny. The only funny bits happen with Troyer if I stretch to be kind. Alba and Malco are terribly bland. Guru Pitka could be a funny character if he's an innocent and naive to the modern world. He's not likable and the comedy is repetitive.

I've always been a fan of Mike Myers, so, for my first review on this site, I thought I'd start off with The Love Guru. This movie has been included among the list of the worst movies ever made. And, while I'll admit it does have it's flaws, I still really like it. And, based on the other reviews, I think I'm the only one who does. I'll start this review off by stating the bad things, and then I'll talk about the good things.Guru Pitka singing 9 to 5 seemed pretty unnecessary, as was his rendition of Space Cowboy. I mean, I get that Pitka's first name is Maurice, but still. Not needed. Some of the jokes were a little immature, too. Half of the penis jokes, short jokes, "I'm making diarrhea sounds with my cup", and stuff like that. Some of the short jokes were funny, but I'll get to that later...Okay, it's later. On to the good things.Stephen Colbert and that other guy who's name escapes me were the highlight of the film. They have the funniest scenes. Justin Timberlake was hilarious as his character, as well. Jessica Alba looked very pretty, like usual and John Oliver was great, too. And, even the most avid of Love Guru haters have to admit that the More Than Words sequence, while generally unneeded, was really pleasant to listen to. Whoever played Raj has a really good voice. Mike Myers also has some really funny scenes, as well. The Pitka vs Rooster scene was one of the funniest, to me.This isn't Myers' best movie by any means, but it isn't his worst either. 7/10

Having been in the self-help and spirituality movements for over 30 years I can say in all honesty that this is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.Kudo's to Deepak for providing so many clichés. Even more for being the brunt of so many jokes.Myers captures Deepaks voice to the tee.The message is to laugh at yourself while you are 'healing' your wounded inner child and believe you can be successful in spite of all the dysfunction inside and outside of yourself. It is so fast that you'll have to watch it a few times because three jokes have already gone by when you take the time to belly laugh. Mike is truly a comedic genius and a Canadian National Treasure.Allan Hunkin Worthiness.com :)
