A family friendly movie, that doesn't need crude humor to be funny.Ray Romano plays a likable but flawed character, which also describesmost of his cohorts, his love interest, and even his "nemesis" (Gene Hackman). The comedy never resorts to slapstick , the situations are adult, yet G-rated.Highly recommended.

If your looking for a film with joke after joke or gag after gag, this film is not it. This film is a story about what happens when a popular former President retires to his hometown and gets involved with the local residents, one of which is Ray Romano. It's a sweet story of character development and romance that might be a little off the beaten track. Gene Hackman is superb as always, and Ray Romano, is well...Ray. Christine Baranski provides an excellent portrayal of an ex First Lady. Quirky town folk and beautiful scenery add to the film. If you like plots with relationships and character development, you'll enjoy this film. If you need chase scenes and explosions, or gag after gag, you'll need to go elsewhere.

This film, was by no means, good. but it wasn't that bad to be honest. There were many comical elements, and a lot of them were intentional.Ray Romano was very good, and his character was quite likable, but at the same time a complete jax. There wasn't really anything that stood out in this film, as "poor". The acting was reasonably good, the cinematography was OK, the storyline was a bit far fetched, and very predictable. But apart from that, and a few cheesy moments, this wasn't too bad.I was expecting to enjoy this film, because of it's lesser qualities, however, i found a lot more.Give it a try, it's not as bad as it looks.

This is a movie that makes you happy. It is light to digest, it gives a nice aftertaste, it is never too sour nor too bitter and it makes you laugh. Good old Gene Hackman acts at his best, being 30 years younger than his real age. And two nice, mature ladies shine in Mooseport: the president's secretary, good looking and ready for love, and the local taken-for-granted pretty girlfriend, who wants that rock on her finger so badly. The absence of bad language and gratuit violence makes a difference with so many modern comedies, where children capture a way of talking (and a life attitude) they would better avoid. None of that in Mooseport.
