Broken Flowers (2005)

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Bill Murray. Bill Murray. Once you understand that part you'll go into this one hour and forty five minute sleepover film prepared. Do not expect anything meaningful, instead, expect a pick up and put down book with audio type film. I recently have been discovering jazz, and what took me to this film was Mulatu Astatki and his style of jazz. Upon hearing it in a film i realised, "someone else knows this music", and felt not alone anymore. The high point of the film is many things, but nothing. As age creeps up on you, don't you too sit there, not moving, staring into nothingness, expressionless?, i do, maybe i can also feel, "Not Alone" on that one. There were many directions this film could have taken, none of them happened, and yet i came away from this film thinking, "am i better person for having watched this"?. Well, "am i"?. To be honest, i really cannot answer that one,, no matter how long i sit motionless pondering, maybe we should all sit motionless pondering whilst this film is playing and wonder to ourselves.Do go away and think about it, maybe come back and let me know how you get on. I can neither recommend or trash this film, instead i'll just say one thing....oh wait, now it'll come to me if i sit here long enough, won't it?As an aside, is it only me who can see any resemblance of Winston to Astatki?,

If something has the cinema is that conveys emotion. Except in this movie. Jim Jarmusch has forgotten that part. The film can not be colder. In addition to being excessively long lasting what remains hard footage.Spoiler:To my taste, Bill Murray makes one of his worst interpretations, but surely not because of him. Surely Jim has asked. It is one thing to have to interpret an empty man, but it is that the empty men have feelings, they will be of pity, of rage, of sadness, but of something. The actresses are very well that if it is true, but they do not get to raise the film because the rhythm is so tedious, so slow, there are no road maps that count nothing.It looked like he was watching a three and a half movie with a good video camera. What a bad picture. What a bad direction. At least as it is current, costumes, hairdressing and art is not difficult. But it is that plane to plane, sequence to sequence, is boring. The sequence of the meal with the real estate developer, is tedious. I imagine he wanted to provoke laughter, to me, at least, it has bored me a lot. Why does the naked girl come out? What do you want to tell? Even if the mother were as she was, if that is what she meant, should the daughter be the same?To me personally, the films with such open ends, leave me more than cold and in this one if it was already cold, it has not left me frozen, because that would have been provoking me a feeling, although it has caused me one, thank you, it is finished.

I really liked this movie- Broken flowers.I am fascinated by the character Rita. This particular character is too good. The movie is entertaining as well. I highly recommend watching this movie. All the characters are awesome. Also, the story line moves at a decent pace. The name of the movie itself suggest the story- Broken Flowers! If you are free at the weekend and do not want to go out for dinner with friends, then Broken Flowers is a must watch.

I recently watched "Night on Earth" by Director Jim Jarmusch. Besides being a typical Arthaus movie, I didn't know, what to write about it and decided to give it a rewatch. "Broken Flowers" made it easier for me and I really liked it. Bill Murray is perfect in the role of a notorious womanizer trying to find out which one of his former partners wrote him a letter that she had a son with him. He's going for a search in the whole country, which makes this movie looking like a different kind of roadmovie. The women are played by great actresses such as Delpy, Lange, Stone, Conroy and Sevigny. The story is very straightforward, it all comes down to the interaction between Don and the women. It's at once comedy and drama, but nothing emotionally strong. To me it had something of a roadmovie and had also that "Up in the Air" travelling feeling. It's a fine film with some great moments but likewise it was not outstanding either. Jim Jarmusch is loved by the female audience and this movies shows why: he understands them well and his female characters are interesting. He's like the American Almodovar. You must like this kind of movie-making and most importantly: you must like Bill Murray.
