It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I decided to give this movie a chance after finding it in my local Wal-Mart's bargain bin in part due to its interesting cast, but also that it was made by Millennium Films, the Cannon Films of the 21st century. After watching it, I could see why the distributor didn't give this much of a push in theatres. It's not really a bad movie, but it is significantly unsatisfying. Though the central plot is (mostly) easy to follow, there are some plot details that will have you scratching your head. Were they edited out? Were they not filmed at all? I'm not certain. Also, the complaint that other IMDb users have previously posted about the movie being slow does have some validity. And the ending doesn't really make all that much sense, since there are clearly some outside individuals who know the truth. The acting is pretty good, I admit, and despite the movie being slow, I wasn't really bored at any moment. But as I said, the movie ends up being unsatisfying. The screenplay probably should have gone through a few more rewrites before filming started.

What a waste of a top notch cast. Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Katie Holmes, Channing Tatum and Juliette Binoche. I can understand why they chose to be in a movie together. What could go wrong? Plenty. The screenplay is terrible. The movie could have been watchable and quite involving if the story had been told in a more traditional chronological fashion with less jumping back and forth in time. Unfortunately it's a messy jigsaw puzzle that breaks up the impact. Key plot is revealed through quick mumblings and incomprehensible dialog that is lost in the expletives. The direction isn't clear. All impact is lost.Channing has been uglied up and looks suitably serious and a bit puffy - quite realistic. Katie looks tired and worried. Al looks like he waltzed in from another movie. Ray Liotta is a bit puffy too. Juliette is a bit hard to understand.Give this one a miss. It's just terrible. The movie is unpleasant set among the tenements and full of ugly images and words.

I thought this movie was OK. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. My main complaint would be that it moved along a little to slow, but the story made sense and it was interesting. Also, I didn't think Jonathan would have done what he did at the end because he's jeopardizing his family. But the story about Jonathan's guilt and how he lived with it and eventually became a cop was pretty good. Plus you had the surprise of why he ended up at the prescient that was 2 hours from his home. Channing Tatum was decent in this, better acting than a lot of his movies.FINAL VERDICT: OK, if you want a drama.

I love cop thrillers but this was pretty awful. Channing Tatum gives a lousy performance as usual in what already is a boring and dull film and even the supporting cast who do a decent job can't save this movie. The film cuts between flashbacks way too many times and doesn't allow us to get to know the main character at all which just made this incredibly frustrating to watch. There was also some pretty bad editing here which at times was so bad I couldn't even tell what was going on on screen. I figured by the end of the film there might be some payoff in the climax, but instead there's a twist that makes no sense and all I could think was that the writers wrote it as the scene was being filmed because it makes no sense what so ever. I really wish I would've listened to the reviews and stayed away from this one. Even if you're a huge fan of Cop Crime-Drama's there's little enjoyment you'll find here.
