Last Night (2011)

One of my all time favorites.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

In my opinion, this is one of the most emotionally profound Hollywood movies I've seen in years. I watched it few years ago and I still think about it, almost every time I am doing my research for what to watch next. It is a very neat representation of love and infidelity. The triangular connection between emotions, rationality and irrationality is shown in a most simple way. Watching this movie, I felt like I'm watching a European or Iranian cinema. I especially appreciated how the movie ended, telling us that its ending is not as important as the question this movie proclaimed: Emotional or physical infidelity, which one is worse?

Last Night: I liked it because it is so realistic. It shows what exactly would have happened in real life. Most movies don't do that and it's a little annoying sometimes. I mean there are times that we need to be realistic and movies like that do the job in a great way. Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington are both excellent actors. Their performance was amazing. I don't feel the same though about Eva Mendes. Although I love her, I didn't enjoyed her in this movie. She seemed a little bit too emotionless. In general, though, all actors were great. Massy Tadjedin is both a good writer and director and she did a very good job with this movie.

The film is centered around lust & doubts. These two are responsible to ruin a good marriage & end a crappy one.This is what happened here. Kera is full of doubt about if she made the right decision or not. She is still in love with her Ex-Boyfriend & thinks about him everyday. While Sam succumbed to lust. He couldn't resist the temptation to have sex with Eva even though he loves his wife.The film shows that marriage is full of hurdle.You can never be too sure about the decision you made with your life. You will keep wondering if you made the right one or not.Temptation is also part of your marriage life. Its hard not to be attracted to someone just cause you are in a marriage & love somebody else.A key to a good marriage is to resist these temptation,overcome these hurdle & get over your doubts.Which both of the the main star failed to achieve.They surrendered.Kera is still in love & she is not happy in her marriage. Her head is full of doubts.She will probably never be happy in this marriage anymore.Sam on the other hand couldn't resist Eva's charm.I don't see Eva in high regards either. She seduced a married man & made him cheat his wife.She couldn't resist the temptation of sleeping with Sam too.Overall this film portrays the real life hurdle of a marriage & I know people would love if they saw neither of them cheated (Kera not fully) but this is also part of the life.

I can't believe the rating of this movie isn't 10/10!! I absolutely loved this movie and highly recommend it ... For one, I didn't get together with a man I loved and shared a long distance relationship with for 3 years so I could totally relate to Joanna in this film hence why I was so moved i guess.. Sometimes people come in your life unexpectedly and some leave an unforgettable mark whereas others are easily forgotten.. This movie taught me that moving on is possible and yet impossible at the same time, but it's OK! In time, all will be OK... You just got to carry on living.. Smiling... And just taking it one day at a time... Love, faith, patience, distance and passion are all summoned to court in this movie for an honest confession... Anyways, I'll stop rattling on and I sincerely hope this movie gets the recognition and rating it very well deserves!
