The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

'Tell No One' is a fine example of exactly how a mystery thriller should be done. This is a very well-written and acted film with a compelling and intelligent story. It does a particularly good job and building and maintaining tension, moving at a steady pace and with the plot developments timed for maximum effect.Despite the relatively long running length for a thriller, 'Tell No One' never goes through any dull patches. There are plenty of twists and, like with other strong thrillers, the film goes in a totally different direction to what anybody would have expected. Any flaws are minor and have no impact on the storyline. All in all, 'Tell No One' is a very well-made, compelling mystery thriller.

this film was based on a novel by Harlan Coben which is among my favorite authors. I didn't aware of this film, so I read the novel before watching the movie. all I can say that the movie had good and bad things side by side. if you read the original novel and then watch the movie you can easily find out that the novel and the characters are more deep than the ones in the movie. after I finished the novel, I was shocked and as I remember, I couldn't forget the movie that I had read!. yes the novel had given me such a great feeling. anyway, the director could work on characters a little bit more. such a complex scenario with complex connections between characters need to be displayed and told a little bit more, so someone without knowledge about the story could understand it. if you think that the movie was great, please consider reading the original book with the same name as the movie by Harlan Coben. He has more than 20 great novels like this, full of mysterious things which make you love him :)

I happened to read, Harlan Coben's "Tell No One" prior to watching its movie adaptation. Fast paced and suspenseful with occasional twist and turns, the novel concludes with a deep sensation of empathy with each of the characters. Ultimately a love story tangled in a mystery of murder and suspicion, the novel sets its grade in an ambitious altitude. So it's not always a big surprise when you finally get to see the rich characters you enjoyed reading and relating yourself with turn out only to be some worn-out hopeless folks running confusing errands on the big screen to accommodate desperately into an intriguing plot nonsensically. It happens most time when a movie is based on a hit novel. The movie has to cater our expectation. But, 'Tell No One' is more than what I expected of it. Guillaume Canet, the director of the movie not only manages to retain the soul of the novel but also escalates its emotional resonance to a greater length superbly. An exceptional novel is adapted into an even extraordinary movie. The movie has an excellent casting, dexterous direction and a marvelous cinematography. The movie is one step ahead of the novel.A brief synopsis: Alexandre Beck is accused of murdering his wife Margot, 8-years later when two corpses are discovered in a property belonged to him. More evidences float up to back up the accusation. He gets an anonymous mail claiming to be his dead wife to further exacerbate the commotion. In Beck's frantic attempt to decipher the mystery of the return of his dead wife, to find her whereabouts, he is dragged into more serious conundrums of kidnapping, thugs and secrets from the past which all put his life at stake. He must find the truth regarding his wife to save his own life and those associated with him before the police arrests him.'Tell No One' is layered in multiple levels with sophisticated subplots, minor characters and intertwined ambiguities to establish one strong whodunit story on the apex. Everything connects to the main plot. Whether it is the subplots or minor characters, they all play significant role in consolidating the main plot. The result is a tight and packed thriller with no scenes to discard and makes the narration a bit complicated to follow at times. The mystery unfolds on its own as Beck figures out what happened during the night his wife allegedly murdered by a serial killer. As the undisclosed discloses it takes you to the unexpected route, to more surprises. And what I loved the most apart from the novel is the way the movie ends. It's much better and clever than the novel. The novelist himself stated the same opinion. Atop the compelling pursuit of the truth it's a love story sabotaged by the selfishness of some and resolved by the selflessness of some other. The love chemistry is the factor that gives the movie an emotional undercurrent. Thrillers of this sort hardly come by. 'Tell No One' is something one doesn't want to ignore. Who? Why? and What? – Though the story becomes a bit predictable near to the end- You will never stop asking yourself these questions throughout the movie. And if you love murder mystery movies with some solid substance and suspense, this is the absolute choice.

Particularly since the beginning of the new Millennium, I personally nominate France as the country where currently the absolute greatest action, thriller and horror films are being made! In the horror section France has been responsible the most genuinely shocking and petrifying titles of the past fifteen years, with "À l'intérieur", "Haute Tension" and "Frontière(s)" as just a couple of examples. When it comes to action/thriller movies, there's for example the breathtakingly tense and spectacular "La Proie", but most of all there's "Ne le dit à personne". In many more ways than just one this is the perfect thriller, with an indescribably tense and captivating plot, a fascinating cast of characters, impeccably staged action footage and stunts, stellar acting performances from everyone involved and solid & surefooted leadership from a talented young director who clearly knows what he wants! François Cluzet, also the star of the must-see French drama masterpieces "Intouchables" and "Les Petits Mouchoirs", is terrific as the tormented protagonist Alexandre Beck; - a pediatrician still baffled over the gruesome death of his beloved wife Margot, eight years ago. It happened while Margot and Alexandre where enjoying a vacation near a quiet and peaceful lake. Following a nightly swim, Alexandre got knocked unconscious while Margot was brutally abducted and vanished into the night. A few days later, while Alexandre was still in a coma, Margot's father and the police found her savagely mutilated corpse surrounded with the decaying leftovers of small animals; the trademark of a vicious serial killer at large in the area. Now, all these years later, two unidentified bodies are found at the same location and Alexandre receives a mysterious email with a link to a surveillance camera video that briefly shows that Margot is still alive. The case is re-opened with Alexandre as the main suspect, and he is forced to unravel the complicated truth of what really happened to his wife while the police as well as several unknown assailants are on his tail. I honestly can't give a more detailed description of the events in the film, because A) it would require at least two full pages of text and B) it would truly be a shame to reveal too much about the compelling plot! At a certain point during our TV-evening, my wife asked me: "What do you think happened?" Quite frankly, "Ne le dit à personne" isn't the type of thriller where you can guess what the next plot twist will be or where you can co-investigate along with the protagonist. The script contains more convoluted twists and turns than a French mountain road and the plot constantly refers to detailed little events that occurred before, during and after Margot's unexplained disappearance. This is the type of thriller where you have to remain extremely focused the entire time in order to spot and remember every little piece of information in order to be able to complete the puzzle during the marvelous finale. There are many supportive characters, but they all have an equally essential part in the story and every tiniest footnote in the plot may or may not turn out to become a vital piece of the mystery puzzle. You can tell that "Ne le dit à personne" is faithfully based on a novel, since the characters drawings are extremely detailed and the denouement is 100% waterproof. Until the very last moments of Alexandre's search for the truth, the viewer is surprised as well as misled and confused. It's truly a thriller that will cause you to analyze and discuss the events long after the movie is finished. As stated previously, the acting performances are terrific, and so is everything else about this production, including the filming locations, stunt work and cinematography. My only minor complaint lies with the soundtrack, as I would have preferred the use of French language songs instead of popular English songs, but I guess this is due to the fact that the film is based on an American novel (courtesy of Harlan Coben)
