A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

MORE REVIEWS AT booksequalhappiness.blogspot.comThis is a rewatch (I've rewatched this many this) and I still love it. I love the story between Lizzie and David. It was interesting to see that their relationship started as hatred and then turned into something more. I was devastated for Lizzie when she found out what happened to her and I'm glad that David tried to help her. It was touching and very funny to watch. David is so adorable.

This is a very good movie, if you talk about the comedy or romantic movie. Some people might not like it but for me, i can't take my eyes out of it because the plot is very interesting. Mark Ruffalo is a great actor. He shows me the different feelings and I can feel them all. When I watched Just Like Heaven, I just forgot that who is Mark Ruffalo? Because in that time I know only David Abbott. And talk about Reese Witherspoon. She is an incredible actress too! I did believe that she is the doctor. She makes me laugh, sad and smile. She can send those feelings right at me. So this is the very old movie from 2005 but if you haven't watched it yet. Then you should watch it once in your lifetime!

In the light of Reese Witherspoon's second Academy Award nomination, I decided to rewatch a film she made in the same year that she won the Oscar for "Walk the Line" 10 years ago. And I was not disappointed. "Just Like Heaven" is a decent romcom with some dramatic and even science-fiction additions. It surely helped in my decision that I quite like Mark Ruffalo as well. The film starts with the song with the same name like this film, performed by the very talented Katie Melua. It's hard to top that start. That much is safe. For me the film really did succeed. It comes from the director of "Mean Girls" and the writers of "Mrs. Doubtfire" and the "Analyze"-films. The humor was pretty refreshing. When David tells Lizzie so enthusiastically to walk into the light, I really had to laugh. Or also when he dodges her attempts to cause him headaches and the people at the club applaud his dance moves. Very funny. Or in general how he talks and interacts with her and the way the people react. Or the fella who thought David was a detective who found about about him cheating on his wife. I laughed a lot during this film. Possibly the best comedy from 2005 for me. Very well written.Yes, the ending is expected and not too daring, but that did not hurt the viewing experience at all. If you're in for a teen choice awards best chick flick winner, this is the one to pick. It also has some sad moments, like how she was a cat lady without a cat so far or when she does not remember him when she awakes, but they are either not too grave or quickly changed with more positive developments. I recommend this film a lot.

They don't make chick flicks any more pandering than this. A young woman (Witherspoon) has a car accident and becomes comatose. A young man (Ruffalo) ends up renting her old apartment and is haunted by her spirit. Problem is, she has lost her identity and memory. Of course, she's not completely dead, so you can guess where this is going. Young women will eat this up. All others, beware. The ending falls flat, much like the ending of JUST FRIENDS, which often plays back to back with this date movie on cable. Personally, I believe Ruffalo is too good an actor to be doing movies like this. But then, I'm sure the paycheck was good. And it's not like he was being called upon to act or anything.
