Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.

I'll encourage such a good movie with an 8Interesting, very well shot and acted, good story, nice grip, becoming concept, funny, moving, intriguing, smart, all in all a very good film.I recommend at least a go with this movie, it offers a scent of new in a world of cheesy stereotypes, fishy propaganda and boring clones mostly from Hollywood. After all they basically find ways to give Oscars to themselves...Very good Levitt (he is starting to deserve a little more than good reviews) and the rest of the cast is never out of place. If you missed this, try to find it, you won't regret it.

Unforgivably irresponsible and altogether inappropriate, Hesher is a young male's rebel fantasy. But it's not quite typical. Or entirely forgettable. The story unfolded as a series of non-sensical disappointments, but I respect this movie for two reasons. I have to admit it did keep me guessing, and ultimately demonstrated some comedic genius - at the end - even though it was nauseatingly egotistical. While I didn't appreciate the infinitely crass script, the casting and acting were superb. The whole movie was just so emulsified in obscene discourtesy, the little twist at the end was by no means worth it. BUT I still have to recommend it if you like dark comedy and adolescent male vulgarity.I'd still love to read what's so great about it...

TJ is a brat who is not lucky in life. He has recently lost his mother in a car accident and lives together with his father, depressed and lazy and with his grandmother. Everything changes when in his house appears a strange man with long hair who loves rock music and has all kinds of tattoos on his body. He comes home to wash the laundry and even threatens him that he will kill his the family if he don't let him live there. How has no choice TJ must be agreed. The child is having trouble at school and he is always bullied by a student who did not leave him in peace and taunting him whenever given the opportunity. In his life appears a girl who works at the supermarket and who will save him one day from the hands of the guy who wants to beat him. But Hesher will make TJ to have a bad opinion about her but it will save him once from the hands of the bully.I don't think this movie has a great message because we see a child cursing and it's talking disrespectful with his dad, leave home and comes back when he wants without providing any explanation of where he was and what he did. Or how it's used to threaten a man much older than him and he's aware that he can't put up with him.I honestly say that I hate this kid, in some sequences he looks like Linda Blair from The Exorcist but if I am thinking better I think he would need an exorcism.

Well, what I have just seen... Almost a wow-movie, although such things cannot happen in the United States, cannot they? Nobody called the police or social services as a child was induced to misdemeanors and deeds prohibited to minors? An ode to permitted rudeness and irresponsibility in the event of internal fragility due to tragic past? Nevertheless, all was this was exciting to follow, as the screenplay had a few predictable moments only, most of it (the ending incl.) was surprising and sudden... And the cast - consistent and strong, even minor supporting roles. And it is amazing how such a movie could attract an Academy Award winner (Natalie Portman) and a multiple Academy Award nominee (Piper Laurie) - who perform splendidly. Although the best and biggest roles are performed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Devin Brochu, Hesher and TJ, respectively. Additional points from me for politically incorrect satire... I am still wondering what would be the most suitable circle to watch this movie with. All generations were present, but still - Hesher is not a family or kinfolk movie. On the other hand, it deserves more attention and praise it has obtained so far.
