The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

2013 was a pretty bad year in animation in my opinion, as a whole lot of bad movies in the Animation category came out that year (Free Birds and The Nut Job being notable ones). Granted, not EVERY animated film that came out that year was unbearable, but i just didn't like that year (even some films that were good, like Frozen and Despicable Me 2, are just ones i don't prefer) Nonetheless, EFPE ends up being an alright picture...but would i watch it above other movies? F**k no. The Animation is good, and the voice acting is pretty good as well, and it seems like the actors genuinely want to make a good picture (unlike The Nut Job) and while the story is terribly unoriginal, it at least doesn't insult human history (like Free Birds)...or at least not as much AS Free Birds. So in short, while not unbearable, this movie is definitely able to be skipped.

Review: Although this is definitely made for the kids, its one of those movies were adults can watch it as well because there are some funny jokes and the storyline isn't completely ridiculous. There is a wide variation of characters which keep the movie interesting and the animation was quite good. Its basically lighthearted fun for the whole family which is easy to follow from beginning to end. Personally, I wasn't expecting that much from the film so it was good to see that the director added a little adult humour, like the Simon Cowell reference and the talking robot who was supposed to be a rip off from the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. At the end of the day, it wasn't that great, but it harmless fun if you just want to watch something that will keep the kids quiet. Average!Round-Up: Surprisingly, there were some big names supplying there voices for this movie which was why I was expecting it to be bigger than it was. Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Brendan Fraser and Ricky Gervais are just some of the famous names on the cast list, but the movie didn't really blow up at the box office. Maybe that's because there isn't that much depth to the film and it seemed like the studio just wanted to release it while the kids were on holiday. Anyway, the movie made quite a profit so I'm sure that were going to see these characters in a sequel. As far as animated space movies go, I have seen worse but this isn't that memorable. Budget: $40million Worldwide Gross: $75millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there animated, intergalactic kiddie movies about a space technician going to save his heroic brother from earth were an evil man has kidnapped him. 4/10

This is my first movie review on IMDb so bear with me. I had my doubts at first about watching this movie considering it's not done by the main animation power houses ( Disney and Dream Works) but to my surprise it's right up there with the big boys. The animation is exceptional, the character designs are great, the storyline isn't half bad,the characters compliment each other well.In my opinion it's way better than the Croods or Rise of the guardians. All in all,It's a fun movie to watch. The only thing I didn't like was the voice casting of Brendan Fraser as Scorch Supernova. He just didn't do it for the character. But on the other hand Sarah Jessica Parker did a great job voicing Kira Supernova. As for first time feature film directer Carl Brunker he did a wonderful job directing this one.

Okay, let's see. Animation, pretty good, I'll give it a 7. Plot, not bad, another 7. Characters, pretty likable ... how about 7 for this one too. Family fun -- my 4 and 7 year old kids liked it, but didn't rave over it, not like Despicable Me 2 -- another 7. Hrm, it looks like this movie should be rated 7/10 if we average these individual ratings. So why, you may ask (but probably won't), do I want to give this film a 3/10? The reason, dear readers (assuming again that anyone will ever read this) is simple, they got the plot, but forgot how to tell a story. There was no suspense, in a plot that should have been driven by suspense, I mean, it's about an escape. Every time one of the films heroes encountered anything resembling an enemy he or she was immediately caught. Plots require suspense to bring them alive. So, while the writing was average, the pacing of the film was horrible with few surprises along the way, something (anything) to cause the viewer to feel some level of angst about the characters' predicament. Scortch lands on earth and gets caught by the bad guy. Gary lands on earth, drinks a slurpee and gets caught by the bad guy. Gary's wife tries to rescue him and gets caught by the bad girl. Gary's kid tries to get away from the bad guy but gets caught. At least he finally displays some moxie and frees his mother with his roll of explosives. As written this film should have been called "Aliens are Caught but Escape in the End", but I would prefer if the writers had injected a bit of suspense and a few chases here and there. I'm surprised the Weinstein's let this one out the door in this state.
