I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

Max Simpkin (Adam Sandler) through a series of circumstances discovers he has a machine in his basement that is magical. When used on shoes, it will turn the wearer into someone who looks like its original owner. Max tinkers with the shoes of his customers and finds himself in a situation in a not too well developed story. The idea was cute. I am not sure that is the way I would have gone. The acting was okay. Steve Buscemi plays a subdued role as a barber. Dustin Hoffman role is slightly beyond that of a cameo. Ellen Barkin looks good for 60.Makes for an okay rental. Not a laugh out loud type comedy.Guide: No f-bombs or sex. Woman in shower with some strategic covering.

OMG don't watch this movie. It's unbearably UNfunny. Adam needs to retire and banned from ever making another movie after this betrayal of a film!!

watching this was something fresh, its a set up for like a Jewish super hero that any one can relate, I would be really interested in a sequel just for the kick out of it, good to see Adam Sandler first of all by himself with out the other usual side kick, just Steve in a non retarded character, plus the gray winter ambiance in the movie and the music to go with it just brilliant, really go on watch this movie and try to think its not the usual Adam Sandler flick and you will enjoy it. Fun dark comedy with no cheep shots and a nice cadence too The only down side i see to this movie is the same i see in a lot of movies, when they try to translate this to another language they just butcher the movie I now its difficult some times to translate emotions and slang from a new York based movie in Spanish but some times is like they are not even trying. Adam thanks for the fresh ride of creativity

Completely don't get the bad reviews as we don't have enough of these movies these days. Such a great story line that's full of whimsicality. I've been waiting for a movie like this from Adam Sandler as he is often typecast and I've always felt like he had more in him. This movie is quirky, fun and a joy to watch and I was in that world enjoying the ride. It's not your typical Sandler movie but it's still light hearted and funny. It was a little predictable in that I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen but I wasn't disappointed. Loved seeing Steve Buscemi as well - he was great in this role and him and Sandler bounce off each other really well. If you want to enjoy a really nice movie experience I highly recommend this film. You won't be disappointed.
