Pacino and DeNiro, an unbeatable combination but then add a load of A list actors and you have a recipe for a seriously good movie. A clever story with an unexpected twist, generally well acted and well worth watching. Retained for future viewing.

This was okay. I know they were trying to recapture the magic of Heat but somehow this just never quite grabbed me. Al Pacino does a great job and it was fun seeing him back together with Robert DeNiro but ultimately this was just another routine cop movie, pretty average considering. They play partners of 30 years who should be ready for retirement, but aren't. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, who appears to have ties to a case they solved years before. The similarities between the recent killings and their earlier case raise a nagging question: Did they put the wrong man behind bars? I will admit to not predicting the twist at the end (which was pretty cool and cleverly disguised) however bottom line these two screen legends were just too old for their roles. We needed 40 year old cops not 60+ year olds. As police detectives they should have or would have been retired. Heat is still a great movie though 04.11

After seeing some of the crap reviews for this film, I HAD to write this one...I just finished watching it and I felt wholeheartedly that it was powerful, engaging, and very entertaining. Just watching these two legendary actors throughout the film was well worth the time. Amazingly, Jon Avnet did an outstanding job directing, and the editing, despite studio meddling, was surprisingly very tight and well done. The inter-cutting of flashbacks and even the minute amounts within scenes were masterfully done (and I am NOT a fan of frenetic editing AT ALL) The reason why I say 'Amazingly' is because another film by Avnet, '88 MINUTES' Also starring Al Pacino, was a rotting, fetid, piece of pure and unadulterated stench that sucked MAJOR camel balls. Gawd, that was awful (Gawd-awful...?) Anyway, by some mysterious alignment of someone's internal (or possibly external) organs, THIS film was extremely well done.I WILL say though, that this was a VERY rare case where I could NOT sit through the commentary; Lord knows I tried, I really did. But, Avnet was such a smug, sucky li'l Pr*ck, that I just couldn't take it. Also, whomever miked his sound should be taken out, dismembered, shot, killed, and then tortured some more. GEEZ!!! I cannot possibly convey how excruciatingly annoying it is to have a microphone shoved SO damn far up in someone's mouth that you hear EVERY friggin lip smack and mouth noise. HORRIBLE! And these are professionals... Uh huh... So, between the two, although I normally LOVE commentaries of films that I enjoyed, this guy I absolutely could NOT take! And the fact that he hasn't really done $h|t before or sense is of NO surprise to me.Anyway, sorry to digress there... Back to the film.Great movie. Very intense. Very intriguing. Very misleading (in a good way) And, MOST satisfying. As I mentioned before, the acting ALONE is reason enough to watch this, especially if you are fans of either guy. I truly have NO bloody idea what film these dickweed reviewers saw or WHAT the heck they can possibly be looking for in a movie, but as far as I'm concerned, it was pure art watching these two legends as they worked together through this amazing story...HIGHLY recommended!

I barely know why I do things, let alone why great actors and other movie stars agree to do movies that diminish them in the eyes of their audiences. Therefore, I will not attempt to speculate why DeNiro and Pacino agreed to work together on Righteous Kill, a movie so bad that the only two things to recommend it are the always luscious Carla Gugino and the high-contrast "Reservoir Dogs"-style movie poster.Snip this R-rated yawner down to a TV-14 (the way I saw it) and the viewer gets to sit through 88 minutes of incomprehensible incoherence. DeNiro's face is fascinating to look at (because there's something clearly dangerous right under the surface. Pacino's hair has a mind of its own. Gugino has an old-fashioned sex-symbol vibe. Brian Dehenney, Donnie Wahlberg, and John Leigezumo are all fun to watch, but they have thankless jobs. And that, folks, is that. All they is and they ain't no mo'.
