Absolutely the worst movie.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

A lot of laughs are to be had in this movie, an engaging buddy comedy with the excellent proved comediennes Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.The leads seem to work really well together as I believe that they have done so in the past, perhaps on Saturday Night Live? The dialogue is excellent and is the main component of the film. I feel certain that a lot of it is ad-libbed. The best lines were definitely reserved for the father of the baby (Dax Shepard), said sometimes with an almost embarrassed air; as some of them are somewhat politically incorrect, but generally just outrageously idiotic and ignorant.A jolly entertainment for most modern adults, possibly not however for those of a conservative bent.

Baby Mama (2008): Dir: Michael McCullers / Cast: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Greg Kinnear, Dax Shepard, Sigourney Weaver: Some women consider motherhood a sign for growing up but for Tina Fey it's just the fact that she's 37 and unable to have a child. Frustrated she turns to a surrogate agency where she is paired with Amy Poehler. Directed by Michael McCullers with formula screenplay and cheesy conclusion. Fey is terrific in her first starring role. She answers her yearning by attempting to support someone else carrying what she perceives is her baby. What truly bites here is Fey's concluding surprise, which comes off as totally contrived. Poehler is hilarious spewing one-liners and avoiding responsible living. She and her boyfriend are at odds due to something that Fey is not aware of yet. Greg Kinnear as a possible love interest is totally cardboard delivering a one note performance unworthy of his talent. Dax Shepard plays Poehler's cheating ex who does what we expect yet becomes the film's one surprise turn in a move that actually works. Sigourney Weaver is a fine actress but seeing her in limited access here takes away from what we know she can do with a detailed role. The film is well made despite its sitcom delivery, and will likely appeal largely to female viewers, particularly mothers. The Film addresses motherhood and those believing they have what it takes. Score: 7 ½ / 10

I am a big fan of Amy Poehler and I like Tina Fey too, I hope I am spelling their names correctly here because other wise that would be very embarrassing.I thought this movie was very funny in places. It is not Tina Fey's best work but she is still good in this and Amy Poehler is really funny as usual as the mommie to be. I expected more from this movie because of their talent but it is still worth watching for sure and is a good mostly family friendly comedy to watch. The script is a basic comedy script, nothing too hard to follow and a bit predictable like most comedies but still funny.

baby movies can be amusing('Baby Boom')or they can be kind of awful('She's Having A Baby')or sometimes kind of freaky (the weird 'Baby's Day Out'). 'Baby Mama' is one of the funnier, more interesting ones.the whole surrogate mother thing is somewhat controversial, so it makes for more interesting viewing than your average 'baby' flick. i even wondered at times if some of the jokes were aimed at the 1985 surrogate documentary 'Paternal Instinct'("i worry you are too fat"). at least this movie didn't go as far as that documentary did and show close ups of Amy Poehler's vagina being inseminated. barf. don't remind me.Tina Fey and Poehler are pretty funny here and there is an amusing cameo-like role for Steve Martin who sports a long hair pony tail. Greg Kinnear is his usual likable self.it's hard to imagine a 'baby' flick being a great movie. that is of course not including the awesome 'Rosemary's Baby'. so i wouldn't say this is great cinema or a profound story, but if you like babies, and like a fairly funny film, then this is it.
