If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

Owen Wilson, Matt Dillon, Kate Hudson, Seth Rogan and Michael Douglas star in this 2006 comedy. Wilson plays goofball, Dupree who attends the wedding of his best friend, Carl (Dillon) and his bride, Molly (Hudson). Soon, Dupree becomes their houseguest and things go terribly wrong for them all. Carl also begins having a tough time dealing with his father-law, Mr. Thompson (Douglas) who is also his boss. Eventually, Dupree tries to fix things with not only Carl and Molly, but himself. Rogan (Knocked Up) plays Carl and Dupree's friend, Neil who seems to let his wife control his life. This is pretty good, the cast is great and I recommend it.

Owen Wilson stars in this underrated comedy as Randolph Dupree. Dupree is a free spirited, relaxed guy who likes to go out and live life. The movie starts out with Dupree's best buddy Carl (Matt Dillon), who is getting married to a girl named Molly (Kate Hudson). The movie doesn't beat around the bush and gets to the wedding quickly.Dupree ends up jobless and homeless because he got fired for going to the wedding. Carl decides to let Dupree live with him and Molly for a while until he gets a job and gets back on his feet. The movie shows us very funny ways in how Dupree is making an effort to get back on his feet and how Carl is dealing with his wife nagging him to kick out Dupree, dealing with his father-in-law/boss (Michael Douglas), and dealing with how he handles his life. The directors do a good job in showing us the funny situations and putting a little bit of drama into some of the story. Owen Wilson puts a great touch onto the Dupree character and making it his own. Wilson makes Dupree look like he is that relaxed guy and makes us want to care for him and live life somewhat similar to how Dupree does. Dillon and Hudson are brilliant in their parts and make us feel for their situations too. Douglas is a scene stealer and makes us want to hate him. Seth Rogen (before Knocked Up and Zack and Miri) even has a short part in this movie as a buddy of Dupree's and Carl's.This movie should be seen by anyone who is a fan of Owen Wilson's. Nobody can pull of this role as well as he does. It is worth seeing if it comes on TV or is available to rent.

This is the worst, shallowest, unfunny film I have endured for years. The concepts are poor, characters very shallow and plot is entirely ridiculous. Shouldn't the Dupree character be at least likable? I would have cheerfully strangled him on at least 10 occasions. Additionally, the idea of putting him in front of a classroom of impressionable kids is ludicrous - bordering on insane. Who in their right mind would want kids to hear the "mothership" clap-trap from Dupree? The staged elements - where he is a rude and imposing house-guest, were shown on the trailers to the film and were meant to shock. The fact that there was little else of any substance in the actual film is typical of this genre. The fire scene is also much more annoying than credible. Then when it clears up so easily is preposterous. The "lovable rogue" who hasn't grown up and still has fun skateboarding with the local kids, should never have been accepted by the producers as credible. I could go on but it does not deserve further consideration. Please respect yourself and the rest of your life and do not waste a second of it on watching this film!!!!

This is an extremely lazy slacker comedy. Owen Wilson overdoes his 'aw shucks' charm as a good for nothing who stays on as a house guest with his reluctant best friend. There are some comic moments but the film as a whole simply doesn't work. Why would anyone put up with someone as self-centered and obnoxious as Dupree? The film doesn't even bother to try. Kate Hudson looks good but has little to do. In fact, Matt Dillon and Michael Douglas, all play second fiddle to Owen. With a weak script and few laughs, this is pretty poor stuff, only watchable if you are completely bored.Overall 3/10
