While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

(28%) A feather light family fantasy picture that gets by with a talented cast, but is void of all the extra elements needed to deem it anything other than ordinary and forgettable. Dustin Hoffman's Mr Magorium, despite his best efforts to give some substance to the character, is just a Willy Wonker light. He talks funny, looks as eccentric as any multi-millionaire fashion designer, but there really isn't anything to him besides his magic toy shop. So when the main plot point is revealed just after halfway through it isn't nowhere near as powerful as it needs to be for this to leave any sort of lasting impression. There are much worse family movies out there, but then again being middle of the road isn't exactly all that great either. Which is exactly what this is.

Molly Mahoney (Natalie Portman) is the manager of the magical toy store Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium and an apprentice to Mr. Edward Magorium (Dustin Hoffman). Molly was a promising composer but has since lost her confidence. Eric Applebaum is a friendless boy except for Molly and Mr. Magorium. Mr. Magorium hires accountant Henry Weston (Jason Bateman) to get the accounts in order. He gives Molly a block of wood called Congreve and asks Henry to transfer the Emporium to her name.If I'm a kid, I would love this store. Kermit would drop by. It looks like a lot of fun and the movie spares no expense to make this CG heaven. I keep wondering what's the relationship of the store to the real world. Do adults remember the magic after they leave the store? It's odd that nobody seems to be surprised. The movie should explain the world more. Molly and Henry aren't actually that compelling. The character growth is easy. There isn't much of a story here.

(I don't know if it was a spoiler and this is my first time review)I could see that there were negative reviews. Its makes me heartbroken about it because people say that its only for kids. That is untrue it is for any range of age. This movies explore the everyday means of magic aka believing. Also I could feel messages coming out of the movie. For example its alright if your old and play toys, nothing wrong with your childish side. This movie is brilliant and had been misjudged. The characters in the story fit with the plot.Even if it has a childish vibe to it, nothing wrong with it.One word I have to conclude to it ..... ..... Magical!

First off, the only thing I wish was different was that Eric didn't find any friends, but perhaps it's a good thing. Life's problems don't all wrap up neatly in one little package all at once.Other than that, I actually adore this film. It is not for those people who need backstory, violence, sex, action or language - but it is absolutely for those who still believe in magic and childlike innocence. A lot of details are left out, and if you focus on that, it will drive you crazy. If you can manage, however, to let it go and really just watch the movie for what it is, you'll find a beautiful story about the magic of every day life and believing in yourself. I would liken the attitude to the same of Anne of Green Gables, that fairies exist, blessings are alive and well, and magic is everywhere if you're just willing to see it. Somewhat emotional at times, but this movie makes me feel like a child again, with all a child's wonder at the world and its many joys and surprises. If you can sit down, forget about the real world, not care about who came when and why and where; just enjoy a simple experience for what it is, you will love this show.
