There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Must Love Dogs a romantic comedy that stars Diane Lane and John Cusack.Based on Claire Cook's novel,it tells a story of Sarah Nolan,a mid-thirties woman that finds his dream relationship and the perfect man that every woman has dreamed of after suffering from an emotional crises that was brought about by a divorce that occurred a few months back.Gary David Goldberg directed the movie.Sarah Nolan is a kindergarten teacher who just suffered from a divorce eight months ago.Her sisters, Christine and Carol encourage her to date once again.Despite being unsure and uncertain, she posted her photo and profile in the internet. She meets many men in the process but in the end,she is left to decide between Jake,a smart and good-looking man who brings along a dog for their walks; and Bob,a divorced father of one of her students. This was definitely a childish and silly romantic comedy as it went through the situations and the emotions of the character especially Sarah in an immature manner.Added to that,it was also clichéd and predictable from beginning to end.The comedic scenes also barely elicits any laughter as it was so slapstick and some were even corny. It would have been a worthless enterprise if not for the talent of the lead cast particularly Lane and Cusack despite the fact that they probably are just simply going through the motions of it.Overall,it was far from being average film that one could probably not worry about missing it.

Must Love Dogs is for John Cusack fans, because honestly, the story line is kind of boring. Cusack plays his usual philosophical forlorn character with excessive dialogs that we all love. The problem is, that's the only interesting part of the movie. Diane Lane is good, but her characters is very bland, just as every other ones.Everything about the film is kind of average, without spunk or spark. It's the type of chick flick that Hollywood loves to churn out because they know they'll make money. The recipe is tried and true. I've watched it a number of time, so I can say you'll be entertained, but that's about it.You want something simple to pass the evening away without being disappointed, this could be it for you.

I've never written to a "star" before....I've followed you for years, and I think you've always been under the radar,(maybe on purpose) and has HUGE potential for being an Oscar winning professional. Every time I see you on the screen, It's like being with my very first boyfriend in the 11th grade. (plus you look a lot like him) I'm Still single, and set up with a lot of "not feeling it dates". Maybe, if I'm in LA, or Chicago I'll "run" into you, literally...hopefully. NO, I'm not a freak hiding behind a computer stalking "stars" If, you do hit me in the street, I'm a 5"6 120 pound long haired blond probably with my 5 year old black lab, Oscar. I'll apologize, and keep moving....but, know your are adored from afar....Kim~

The movie title promises a lot. The actors themselves promise a lot. But this movie just doesn't deliver. I bought this DVD years ago, thinking that this would be a good romance movie with the added appeal of dogs. I mean, how can you go wrong with a romance movie with dogs, right! Problem is, dogs weren't even used in this movie. Only one scene had the use of dogs. After that, nothing. What a letdown.I wouldn't have minded the lack of dogs (even if the title implied they would be important to the story), if this movie was actually good. But it wasn't! I found it boring and the characters had no chemistry. It's sad because the cast were full of familiar faces who had films before, that I liked.Don't bother watching this if you want a good romance movie. More so, if you're a dog lover and thought you could relate with this movie. What a disappointment. :(Viewed on: April 13, 2011
