In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all began, Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how these cultural rebels—armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent—stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today.

It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Ok I think it's fair to say that straight outta Compton was a huge success when it came to the cinemas back in 2015. It portrays rap group N.W.A which consisted of Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella. I want to start by saying if you haven't seen it you must. The acting, soundtrack and violence made this movie brilliant and portrayed life back in the 80s when the police were corrupt and seen all blacks people as threats and not treated as equal as whites were. You have to understand that since this is a huge Hollywood movie there will be some tweaks made and changed to makes this movie as much as a drama as they could. Now I know people are saying they weren't heroes but they never were meant to be heroes. They are displayed as lyrical geniuses who stood up for what they believed in and expressed how they felt on tape recorders, vinyls etc. They went from having nothing in life to being millionaires who could party and buy whatever they like. Also people seem to not understand the sexual part. Back in the day of rap, all these rap groups and companies had woman who were referred to as hoes. Who basically they could sleep with or have anything done to them whenever they like. That was a huge factor back in the day. Sure it was bad and made woman look bad. But that was a huge concept in rap and it still is to this day.But I still think this is the best movie ever made. Full of drama and entertainment, good music and emotional scenes. I'd say forget the bad ratings and watch it yourself and gather your own opinion on it.

I've seen a lot of people saying that the acting is artificial, but I completely disagree. Well chosen actors, well written screenplay. But there are few things that they didn't mentioned. For example Arabian Prince was also a member of NWA. They also didn't mentioned Snoop dogg & Dr.Dre dissing Eazy-E and Eazy-E dissing them back. But it doesn't really matter. If you're not familiar with the artist that was mentioned on the movie, it probably won't impress you that much.

I watched this movie because I wanted to know a little bit more about N.W.A and their history. After finishing the movie I can say I was pleased with the movie and had a good time while watching it but there is nothing really great about it.The performances are pretty good and everyone portrayed their character in a very good and realistic way. The way in which they incorporated the rap music was very good and the soundtrack is great of course.I have to say that the most interesting parts of the movie are the beginning and the middle. When we can see the whole group together and we see them do all kinds of crazy sh*t. In the third act of the film, you get what happens after N.W.A gets separated and everyone goes in their own path and it wasn't really that interesting. I really wasn't that invested in the story by the third act.I think that the main problem with the movie is the pacing and the story itself. The pacing is kinda off and sometimes you couldn't tell how much time had passed between different events. Also, the story does not lend itself to a very straight forward narrative. I think that they tried to cover a lot of events that happened and that led to damaging the story-line of beginning-middle-End.The problem is this: The beginning is the formation and rise to fame of N.W.A. The middle is the golden years of N.W.A and the album "Straight outta Compton". The end should be when Ice Cube leaves N.W.A and the whole group disintegrates, but they preferred to cover the story until the death of Eazy-E, which makes the third act feel like a whole different movie. Also, since the producers of this film are Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, they decided to take out a lot of events and things that they did in order to protect their status. I think it is okay to protect yourself if you are the producer, but because of that they kind of make themselves look wiser and on top of the situation when they really weren't.In the end, it is an OK movie. You can watch it and have a good time with it, but do not expect anything great.
