The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

This is an okay movie, but at the same time, it's kind of a stupid movie. I would not have made the same decisions the mother makes regarding her daughter. I don't think she always took her childs safety into consideration. Many major motels and hotels have babysitting services. Especially in foreign countries. And, especially since the mother felt that the city was one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Plus her daughter is handicapped. She can't communicate with anyone who does not know sign language or reads lips. The little girl gets into predicaments that children do not normally get into and did "stunts" that most children do not do or can do. It's kind of far fetched. If you can get past all of that, you might be able to bear with the movie. You might want to see what the child gets into next!! *lol*

I found it funny and entertaining. The entire cast was good - yes, even William Hurt...though the parents roles weren't much developed. The movie wasn't about the parents...and maybe Denis Leary's part could have been a bit bigger.I like the work he does...he draws so much character. This is a cross between Home Alone and Die Hard but set in Europe and with a brush of comedy.I think it was well written and kept a good pace...The best action movie ever made? no...not at all...but it kept me interested...and it beats many other films which I own.

So, the only reason why I'm not giving this a one, is because it had so much potential. I thought when I first started the film, that it was made for kids, but then once I heard all the language, I realized quite quickly that this was just a really bad movie. Jennifer Tilly I'm not terribly surprised picked this film, however I was a little disappointed in William Hurt. The guy does have a few good roles under his belt, and this was a disgrace to his acting career.I'm not even going to give a synopsis of this film, just because it was so bad. It had good story behind it, but it was terribly written, not badly acted, that much I will give it, and the directing was alright. However the music was just awful, and it gave it that horrible 'B' type of film feel, and the location and cinematography just weren't very good. Very cheap and not well choreographed.I was disappointed to say the least, and was even more surprised that it was a comedy, after having seen the cover, which looked more like a thriller.I would NOT recommend this film, and discourage anyone from seeing it.

The problem with this is that the movie wasn't intended to be. I can't imagine one would finance this movie without reading the script. My better half somewhat enjoyed the movie and couldn't understand why I was laughing hysterically, especially at the finish. The only thing that really disappointed me was the fact that the little girl didn't regain her voice due to the trauma of riding a gurney through the streets of Amsterdam. William Hurt's voice WAS weird, and I also like Jenifer Tilly despite of her obvious acting talents. Overall, one of the most poorly crafted movies I've ever ever seen. I put the 2nd "ever" in there to get my ten lines.
