It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This was by far the best made-for-TV movie I have ever seen.Totally politically (in)correct in its rightful criticism of the rules of engagement of the UN 'peacekeepers' mandate in the Bosnian war, this movie boldly goes on to depict the harsh reality of what the war was really like and what it was about. For somebody who has intimate first-hand knowledge of the happenings, of the people involved and of the land where it transpired, I cannot but be awed by the realism and truthfulness of this film. Everything has been done perfectly, right down to the local actors who are all faithfully who they claim to be, real Bosnians, speaking with their local colloquial accents, not just some second-hand stand-ins summoned from god knows where on the cheap, as is usually the case nowadays. Everything in this movie is outstanding, the Direction, the screenplay, the cinematography, the acting, etc.A very powerful movie, but definitely not for those squeamish politically correct souls who abound today and who believe that the world is a peaceful, wonderful place where there is no evil and where everybody loves each other. Highly recommended.

I could give a description of what it feels like to watch this. But I won't, since there are no words fit to describe the utter madness of war depicted here. Go see it and think about it. You might end up hating yourself for being part of this world we created. But if there is a slight chance flicks like these could make a difference......who knows. Deeply impressive. I am Dutch by origin so I may not be able to choose he right words, but I have talked to friends of mine who were there, and according to them, it comes close to how it really was. And it damaged them. I must pay my deepest respect towards the cast and directors, who did one hell of a job. I also recommend Savior. That flick takes the madness one step further, but I was not able to sit that one out 'till the end.

I've seen this movie several times, and in my opinion it is one of the most important movie-opuses of our times. Directing, acting, camera-work: all these pieces create an absolutely excellent work. Yes, the Serbs should face what they have done there, and this movie doesn't give a fawning account of them. But... and this but is an aching absence in the movie factory of the world: what about the account of the English doing the same with much more people all around the world? In India, in China, in Africa, in Australia etc. (these are just the biggest places), not to forget about their deeds in Iraq, Afghanistan etc? When will they face their own sins in such a movie done with the same very talented and geniously acting young actors? The sooner the better. Because I think it is unjust to ill-use such a one-sided account for the world and then to act the part of the honest justiciary. Of course this is not an absolution of Serbs, as they committed real guilts there indeed. For example with my own countrymen!!! (as I am Hungarian). But I felt I have to tell this. There is a poem about all of this situation: "To arrange our common businesses, it is our work: and it is hard, indeed." We should feel not these "Iam the good,(as I am from Western Europe) and you are the bad (as you are from Eastern Europe)" feelings, but to face our common past, and create a peaceful present and future.

I really enjoyed this movie. Don't get me wrong, it's about as good as a movie from Body Chemistry series, but it was really interesting discovering how far would author go in "explaining" things he obviously knows nothing about. Most of the time I was amused by pathetic attempts to create sad and disturbing atmosphere, but at times I couldn't help bursting into laughter. Basically, this is yet another black-white portrayal of Bosnian war, where all Muslims are good and all Serbs dirty, ugly and mean. People (like myself) who have been in Bosnia during the war will probably find this flick laughable, while others may be disturbed. But if you really think ANY war is this simple, you should seek medical help.
